Obsession is something that is very similar to love.

I would say the difference is the way that person makes you feel.

For instance you probably won't have a warm fuzzy feeling after you've been ill treated by your obsession. Perhaps a person that knows you're obsessed will take advantage and not treat you well. If they did treat you well, then perhaps that's love. I'm afraid the only difference I can see is that Obsession as a word, is a state of being that is for sure doomed. It will end, and after not that long.

Love is something long lasting.

LAN if you have a choice then take obsessing. There will never be a time of such heightened feelings like the depressed lover gets. The mature love partner is old real fast. Unfortunately obsessing is also dangerous and you can get upset and lose everything in a moment of anger which also is heightened. But go for the passion. Life has so little later on. Take time to share it with others as it is a gift from the gods.

The meaning of obsession is something to be on ur mind all the time..it may have a positive or a negative meaning.. Love is to think about someone only positively..when u are in love u only think good for the one whom u r in love..but in obsession u start claiming rights on that person and negatively want to keep that person to urself..when love obsession it is very dangerous..the person may go mad...love can be obsession sometimes but obsession cannot be love..

Love is not possessive. Obsession is about control, not what is best for the other person. Of course thinking you always "know what's best" for someone is probably more a sign of obsession than love.

Love is not dependency. Its an interdependence. One of the symptoms of love is that you're willing to be vulnerable and show weakness; if you are merely obsessing over someone then you are more likely to be guarded.

Also: true love is a *choice* and committment, not a fleeting feeling.

When you truly love someone you are able to enjoy the bond between you but you are also your own person - you don't need to be with the person 24/7. You don't have to do EVERYTHING together. You give the person you love the space to be him/herself and you can totally be who you are.

When you are obsessing about someone you go to any lengths to be around that person. You neglect taking care of yourself and all of your thoughts are about this other person day and night. You have to know where that person is and what he/she is doing all the time. You can barely eat, sleep or do anything...this person occupies your thoughts ALL the time.

BIG DIFFERENCE!!!!!

Its like loving chocolate or being addicted to chocolate....

Actaually obsession has and deserves a negative feeling its sort of a good question, When you truly love someone youre obsessed in a way... But, one can be obsessed without love for sure too, more likely. OK? LOVE IS BETTER, BUT ITS HARDER TO FIND!!!

If you obsess over someone you smother them and take away their own personality by controlling them or trying to make them into what you want. If you love someone you love them regardless and you never try to change anything about their personality no matter what. You accept them and allow them to be who they are and do what they want. If you love them this way and they love you this way the relationship will grow and be healthy and strong.
Obsession is unhealthy and will eventually drive them away or make them miserable.

Loving someone means you still care about yourself and love yourself enough to have boundaries. Obsessing about someone means you put them above all others including yourself, and that in any context is unhealthy.

When you love someone, you care about the other person, what they want, and their happiness.

When you obsess about someone, all you care about is yourself.
