I'm not sure when this started, but I've recently noticed some odd behavior from my niece. Sometimes she gets this truly pained look on her face and clamps her hands over her ears and starts crying, while staring at the sky. When we asked what was wrong, she said there were cartoons coming out of her head. She says she watches them float out of her head, she told me they really hurt her brain. She said she doesn't make them come out, they come out on their own, and she can't stop them. I would usually just dismiss it as her crazy imagination but it really looks like she's in pain. Sometimes when it happens she just reaches over and squeezes our hands, crying. I'm worried about her. Has this ever happened to your children? Is it a hallucination or sign of some mental disorder? I feel so bad, all I can do is hold her.

This may be your niece's attempt to describe something that is happening to her, in a way that makes sense to her. It is possible something is going on. Does she have any other symptoms?

My daughter says odd things like this, but she has autism. I am not trying to scare you, your situation may have nothing to do with autism. But it makes me wonder if there is something going on with her nervous system???

It doesn't sound like pure imagination to me.

If it were my child I'd consult with her doctor. In the meantime I'd eliminate TV, except that we'd already done that for other reasons. I'd also look for other disturbing influences and try to find out what her night dreams are like.

I have three children and have never experienced this. If I were you I would be taking her to her peditrician. The advice that you get there would be the best. I pray that you get answers and that your niece starts feeling better!

ever concept-approximately having a night easy? once I used to freak out like that id turn on the hallway easy or plug in a nightlight and id be high quality :) what consistently helped me is i tryed to image myself in a bubble that no person would desire to pop, and that i'd desire to get top to sleep

I would talk to her doctor. It's the best you can do for her. I've never had this problem, so I have no idea what it could be.
