There are presently approximately 67 million Catholics in the US, representing 6 percent of the global Catholic population of 1.1 billion. Interestingly, the percentage of Catholics in the American population has remained rather steady in the last forty years, hovering around a quarter of the population.

I agree with you, I think 1/4 of America is christian and I frankly think it is odd that the most questions in this area are about christianity. The only things that I can think of are:

- Christians have the most questions
- Christians are still very actively trying to convert folks and so are most vocal
- maybe some Christians are so insecure that they need to constantly speak to other christians in order to keep their faith strong
- perhaps our own most vocal christians here are so devoted to their religion that they can think of nothing else

I am starting to get tired of the same questions over and over again, though, I can tell you.

Because Christianity has a lot of grey areas. First of all there is Roman Catholic and then there is Russian (Greek) Orthodox also know as Eastern rite. Outside of Catholics, there are Protestants which encompass Lutherans, Baptists, Methodists, Presbyterians, etc. Then there are the Anabaptists which include Hutterites in the west and Amish in the east. Generally Protestants disagree with Catholicism regarding almost everything except Christ is the Savior, and the Anabaptists who were persecuted in Europe, are against the baptizing of infants, and with a awful death sentence by drowning. The Anabaptists f are correct about baptizing people as adults and not babies.
This after reading over the years about Jesus being baptized as an adult by John the Baptist. baptizing , to those who are unfamiliar with Christianity is when you choose to be a Christian and water is used as part of the process. Catholicism thinks of Baptism as erasing the original sin of Adam and Eve, which I do not believe in, I believe it was another of the hundreds of man-made rules.

Sorry you're probably more confused than ever., So all these different beliefs make Christianity somewhat confusing

Because the majority of people here are Christian.
I always state the fact that this forum isn't just for one specific faith, but for all. Spirituality can be very deeply personal without adding any specific religion to it. Sometimes it appears as though the majority here do think that if you're not a Christian, then you and what you believe have no value.

In a hurting world people are looking for something meaningful and they in their heart of hearts know that God is the answer.True that "Christains" often act badly ,including myself.Yet true christians are changed from they way they were before becoming a christian. Also we try to improve each day ,and when we sin we are forgiven .Satan runs lose in the world that is why sin is everywhere.I have had some real bad stuff happen in my family but I don't blame God I blame the decay of man.
Anyway we all just need a truth to look forward to.........

We are talking in the English language, and I am sure that at least 95% of all the peoples here are Americans. Christians are by far a majority in this side of the word. If you go to Yahoo in India I'm sure that the questions are very different.

I think the major population are Christians. Any faith can and should write if they have any questions about anything. It isn't that it is biased or find other religions less important. The site just does not hear from them as much.

The answer is found in Romans 1.

"For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness.

Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them: for God hath showed it unto them.

For the invisible things of Him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead: so that they are without excuse." Romans 1:18-20

God is clearly seen in Creation. He had made Himself undeniable. Yet, in spite of this, many deny Him. This is called pride and rebellion. People who do not acknowledge God are simply in rebellion against His authority. They want to be their own god and do as they please.

Because no one is without excuse in being able to know that God is Creator, questions surrounding the one true God and the gospel are very popular. Many of them are attempts to quell the truth and justify the rebellion of the "asker". If enough other people seem to agree, it helps confirm their godlessness.

That's the whole point...
Just like the bible...the King James is the longest running bible and it is the most accurate...By the spirit of God is the most widely accepted in the true bible believing churches....and the most fought..because IT IS GODS WORD.Just like Christianity...people fight it the most because we follow the way of Christ ...they persecuted Jesus...they will persecute you...because as a christian you follow the truth...you bring the light...and the light reveals..hidden stuff...you know secret stuff....that most people want to keep secret....sin...so ..like a man that if he is in a dark room..and wants his sin to remain hidden ...will get very offended and angry for turning on the light...God bless

Because Christianity is so confusing that no one can figure it out, so they keep asking questions hoping someone else figured it out.

There are over 10,000 unique Christian cults in the US alone, all preaching their own version of the same book.

Who was that guy, the author of confusion? He seems to have invented Christianity.

a lot of people are confused about the religion and don't know how a person can say they are christian, and then turn around and act a different way when they are around different people or something like that. if christianity is the most popular religion in the usa, why is society they way it is?

32% of the world is Christian, and 76% of adult Americans considers themselves Christian.

It is the ultimate majority, although it does not represent the majority of the world. It would have to be over 50% to do that, and its percentage is currently dropping.
