In Australia we call it softdrink.
No idea why, at least soda and pop relate to characteristics of the stuff.

Well, I sometimes say pop, if I'm talking to a friend from back home (Minnesota), but I have been in GA for several years now, and I call all of them Coke, because if you ask, "Can I have a pop?" people look at you funny.
