yes MRSA is the term for staph infection that can no longer be conquered with antibiotics. This is already a disaster and is getting worse. In my family 4 people have died of mrsa"s and 2 more are fighting them. I had an infected knee replacement and their only solution was to want to cut off my leg. I finally found a doctor who saved my leg but it took 9 surgeries, 3 years in bed, mostly in the hospital and months and months of having various antibiotics pumped into my chest while I was also taking 2 oral antibiotics.so, yes it is a deadly infection and getting deadlier by the minute. Many hospitals refuse to publish their reports on this because they don't want the hospitals to look bad and many say it was a heart attack or something like that. to cover up. And, increasingly it is being found in people of all ages.

Yes, MRSA can be a deadly infection.

The mortality rate really depends on the speed of the diagnosis. Most cases can be controlled by administration of very strong antibiotics but if the patient is immunocompromised (eg. HIV+, cancer patient, elderly) and the infection spreads, it is quite deadly.
