I was reading a question and an atheist person said that why dont christians pass out food instead of bibles.

I found that answer really disrupting. Because it seems that some people just want to judge us for our religion of choice. I know for fact that when our church does a missions trip to El Savador every year, they bring tons of supplies to the area that they are going to. Also, not only do they bring supplies, they bring with them doctors, hair stylists, and many other professionals along with them. My church has been doing this for many years. Also they do bring along some bibles with them, just to let you all know. When they go down there every year, they see the affects that their efforts bring.

One thing I forgot to add, recently this year our church helped start and finishp up the construction of a dental clinic. So I guess that answeres the atheists opinion of christions, we not only pass out bibles, but we bring forth gifts, and blessings. Have a good day and I will continue to pray for you.

I believe in doing what you said your church does. they don't know Gods word. Jesus said why do people worry about food that will spoil, when they can eat from his flesh, that it is the bread of eternal life. Not to worry about what you will eat, what clothes you will wear, etc... That through him you will not starve, and will not go without. He will provide all the essentials to life and eternal life. So giving out the Bible is the first important thing. Knowing God and that he will always provide will provide you with food and essentials. When you trust in him and know his word, he will take care of you. I know you know this, but atheist don't, and that's why they are asking why do you only give out Bibles? They also aren't informed correctly about everything else we do for people, like the stuff your church does.

Sis.. becase part of them wants to believe that we are only trying to do help our selves and make our selves look good before our God and that we really don't give a dern about the people and their needs. They don't understand what christian Love is about... It is partially anti christian propeganda... and the few bad apples making the rest of us look bad. Many think that missionaries are just looking to profit off the people ... they don't understand that it's not about the numbers its about having a heart breaking for the lost knowing what pain and what could keep them from that pain of being with out the Lord. And they don't understand because their hearts have been hardened. We need to pray for such people that the Lord would break down the walls around there hearts. So they can see how much they need a savior and have a heart break for those who also need Jesus... that is the only way they can understand and see the whole truth of the matter.

That's great what your church is doing...Our church goes to Zambia twice a year and helps out there....Atheists don't understand what we do and they really don't want to...they have no idea how many Christians (and non-Christians) sponser children and help not just the child but the whole community, or the work they do with the homeless, elderly, disabled, ect...What's funny is when I ask them what they do, they say nothing.....

i agree with you that churches do a lot of good charity-work (and yes, i am an atheist)

unfortunatelly, i have seen 3 times in my life missionaries in action, on my trips to Africa. I travelled to Africa, for charity-work for an organization called Novib, which is not based on any religious beliefs.

The missionaries that i witnessed really filled my heart with anger and disgust. they were first handing out bibles, and only the children who would accept the bible and jesus would get food.

i realize that these are isolated incidents, but unfortunatelly these are the only things i saw missionaries do.

i'm not saying this to judge, i know there are also probably a large group of good people, but the incidents i witnessed filled my heart with disgust.

Christians do much more than pass out Bibles. Hopefully they set a good example with their caring, compassion, helpfullness and actions. For example, even teens go on trips to teach Bible school to children and help school them. We want all to go to heaven. Try Christianity, a real try not just attending a service once or twice. You may see the light. (Or is that what you are afraid of?) You may have to change your lifestyle to set a good example. You may be afraid because you have no concept of it so please don't judge or put us all into one category.

Because atheists generally hate the idea that there is a God, and therefore, hate their followers. It all boils down to closed-minded people who have nothing better to do with their time but throw out insults based on their one-sided tiny little world opinions.

People that say such things are ignorant morons so don't let them bother you. The problem I have with most religions is that they breed hatred. Anything that creates hatred, I don't like, therefore, I am not religious. Until I find something that makes sense, I will be this way.

The people you speak of are thinking what they want to think and ignoring the facts. This particular "atheist" that you mentioned probably has no real idea what is involved in following Christ. Pay them no mind if you feel you are pleasing God. He is the one who counts.

I agree, The Athiests don't seem to see all the good work that Christians and other churches do for the community.

I never had an atheist knock on my door on a Saturday morning to tell me that my religion was wrong, unlike Mormons and Jehovah Witnesses.
