My boyfriend did this, haha. Um, actually, there are semi-permenant colors you can find at, um, Hot Topic. They're priced decently, and they work really well. They last up to 3 months.
If you want to first see how it looks on you before you go for the real deal, I would highly suggest ICE color gel. It can be found in most hair care places in malls and stuff.
Good luck! hope it works out for you...red's an awesome color! (and might I suggest streaks, since your hair is a dark color? :-) )

Forget what every one else said they're all wrong. First one person said try henna, I would seriously advise you not to, its not that safe, and you can't color you hair with anything else, because it will make you hair fall off. I'd advise to try ColorSpa by L'oreal, or Natural Instings by Clairol, they both give great results and are semi-permanent, ammonia and peroxide free, last about 28 shampoos, and leave your hair smelling and feeling great.

Probably not. In order to dye dark hair a lighter color some sort of bleach is required. You might be able to add a reddish tint to your brown hair without bleach, but in order to make it completely red you'd have to have some sort of chemical lightener.

The most natural way to dye your hair is to use henna. Henna comes in a variety of colours, one of them being a beautiful red. Make sure to check that you're getting a semi-permanent brand though!

Do it yourself hair color is a disaster waiting to happen. I did it once and had to spend hundreds of dollars at the salon getting it fixed. Just go to the salon...they are the professionals.

Kool-aid would be the best thing, with no sugar of course, or try Jazzing you would get that at a neighborhood hair supply store.
