it depends on how old you really are

Being a parent myself of an 18, 17, and 15 I don't think it is the growing up that it is more of the parents getting older and would love to keep their kids safe in any respect.
And sometimes it is hard to do.
All it work out in the end.

depends on how old you are and exactly what you mean by grow up...some kids think because they are 13 they are grown up...yet they can't function in society without their parents' help..ex get a job,pay for an apartment, buy a car,pay all the bills...
Shame kids are so clueless about all the responsiblities that come with being over 18....and think they know so much more than their parents....they live in their PARENT'S house, yet believe they have rights they aren't entitled to ...as long as they live there, they have the right to comply with the people who OWN the house, pay the bills and will be held liable in a court of law for their infractions....respect their authority & rules.
Funny how they THINK they are "grown up" but run crying to their parents when they get in a bad spot...want $$$ ,a car, rides.clothes, food, personal hygiene products, make up,shoes, X boxes, catch an STD,get pregnant, need to go to the doctors, need to get bailed out of jail because they got drunk & got caught, need insurance, LOL....
It sucks being a REAL grown up....no one bails your a** out when you get in trouble or need things....enjoy the freedoms kids do have.....like playing, being taken care of,fed, clothed, medicated, have boundries set so they can fit into society & not suck off their parents til they are 45....a place to live for free...rides & anything they can weasel out of their parents through guilty or intimidation...
Kids are so much more immature & co-dependant,rude,ignorant, foolish , unacountable for thier OWN stupid choices and self centered, today than they were 30 years ago....

Tell them that it is a part of life and that if they want some grandchildren they better let you go and fly out of the nest that they call home. Tell them that if they never left their parents they wouldn't have had you. You have your own life and you need to leave the home someday. It wouldn't be fair to keep you all to themselves.

You grow up, move out, and buy them long term care insurance cause u know u don't want to have to try to take care of them when they start to get senile and are still acting like nuts.

The hardest part of growing up is to learn to wear the adult mask of society. Some youth will self destruct when they see it for real.

Grow up anyway. They will eventually have to come to terms with that fact of life, and it will be much harder on you later if you don't do things that you should be doing.

I had that problem. I am 56 now, but I am still troubled by the consequences of their overprotection.

You can search on the web for "overprotection" to learn things about it.

All you can do is just grow up, just keep telling them how you feel until they get it.

shouldn't there be something wrong if your parents dont want you to grow up. what i think is that you should enjoy the moments while they last, especially in your childhood/teenage years.

That's a question that needs more detail. Like how old are you? And do you still live with them? Every situation is different and thus should be handled differently.
