Well,If you dropped a brick from a plane could it kill?But then again a penny is smaller than a bullet and bullets can kill.It all relates to how fast something can move.When 2x4's are flung with tornados they can go through brick walls.So why couldn't a penny go through...lets say...a skull?

Actually, you would be surprised at the answer. Gravity will create such a force for the penny, that it will gradually pick up speed on the way down. Theoretically, it could kill someone. However, the odds of a penny, actually hitting someone, is a million to one.


If you drop it from the empire state building, it would create a crator in the cement below, roughly 2 feet deep.

Yes. Even from a tall building something that small can gain the momentum to cause severe damage and kill someone.

the verticle force would not kill someone, but the fact that the plane is travellign at hundreds of kilometers and hour would impart horizontal force great enough to kill someone

Possibly, if they were looking skyward and it happened to strike them right in the eyeball, I'm sure it would enter the brain and strike them dead.

i saw this on mythbusters..but it wasnt a plane..i believe it was the eiffal (sp) tower...and the myth was busted
