I ask this because I have never found anything in the Bible against or even mentioning lesbian sexuality. Male homosexuality is attacked, of course, but not female homosexuality. Why? Does this omission mean lesbianism is acceptable according to the Bible?

I'm familiar with the passage from Romans some of you have cited. I am talking about a LITERAL condemnation of lesbianism, not just something that can be interpreted that way. In reflection, I suppose this goes for male homosexuals as well. I retain my doubt that the word "homosexuality" appears in any reputable version of the Bible.

It doesn't seem to me like many people are actually giving you an answer--challenges (to what, I don't know), and interpretations, but not answers. Well, I look at the Bible academically and objectively, and I'm not burdened by a bias against the gay community. Let's see if I can help.

Leviticus 12 addresses the matter of women being unclean following childbirth and necessary periods of purification. Unless you're putting "unclean" and "women" together to mean "lesbian", there's nothing anti-lesbian here.

Deuteronomy 23:17; 1 Kings 14:24; 1 Kings 15:12; 1 Kings 22:46; 2 Kings 23:7; and Job 1 all mention sodomites, and sodomites are taken to be people with sexual practices outside the standard man-woman act. However, sodomite, at least in so far as I understand it, is a term given to male homosexuals. Even if a lesbian is technically a sodomite, the Biblical spin assigns the term to men.

Regarding the Book of Romans, I think we're seeing here the same problem that's plaguing so much of Christianity--verses taken out of context and used against the Target Du Jour.

The bottom line is that you're not going to get a straight answer on a forum like this. Too many people are Sunday morning sponges and too many people have a homophobic axe to grind. If lesbianism is omitted from the Bible it's because women weren't considered important enough to worry about (Paul, the greatest misogynist of Western civilization).

We are all sinners on this earth, therefore we are all condemned. condemned means to be judged, and found guilty. But Jesus paid our penalty. Having a religion doe's not take away our guilt. In 1 Peter 4:17 it partially says, "Judgment must begin at the house of God.",Read it for yourself. So we will all be judged. But no, lesbianism is not acceptable, but neither is a liar, or a murderer, or an adulterer, or a coveter, etc. according to the law. Read Romans chapter 7, You will find your answer there.

No. sin is sin for everyone, so even if it is not specifically mentioned by name, homosexuality between females is also not permitted and is spoken of as wrong. Romans 1:26 and on: "Because of this (idolatry, having worshiped created things) God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. In the same way, the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another...."

That covers a lot of ground, and is generally understood to mean lesbianism and/or abandonment, or perversions. Because it is directly compared to male homosexuality ("in the same way"), it is pretty clear that lesbianism is intended. I hope this clarifies things.

Everyone who rejects the gift of Jesus' blood as payment for their sins is condemned in the Bible. As to women being involved sexually with other women there is this passage to consider.

Claiming to be wise, they became fools, and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man and birds and animals and reptiles. Therefore God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, to the dishonoring of their bodies among themselves, because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever! Amen. For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions. For their women exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary to nature; Romans 1:22-26

Actually it does condemn it I've seen it. But who says the bible is the authority? Bible certainly doesn't say the bible is the authority. It only says "all scripture is...", so what exactly is scripture? It doesn't specify, so I say Snow White is scripture. Bible was made by churches (men) and it's filled with fiction and it's overrated and taken too way seriously. Bibles, Qurans?... It's the 21st century now, hello?

You do ask the tough questions...think about the society in which the Books of the Bible were written.
What was the status of women at that time in the world. That may help you better understand the way this topic was addressed (or not addressed) there.

lol actually there is a verse for men and women in Romans.... not that it matters. I dont really care but here

Romans 1 24-27
24Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:

25Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.

26For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:

27And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.

I hate homosexuality, not the homosexual. If homosexuality is wrong for a man its wrong for a woman too. Society has just accpeted woman more. The more evil were influenced by the more used to it we get. There is hope for all sinners, including homosexuality.
