I personally think they're rather insecure and they don't want to face up to any demons they've faced in the past. So instead of nourishing a childs inquisitiveness, they curb the child by humiliating them so that they will have this idea that there is always someone inferior to me.

Remember parents are just humans and a lot of humans act like that. It doesn't mean they don't love you, it's just that they don't see the logic in you doing whatever you did and they feel it might be deviant behaviour and after mirroring it on themselves they say no! don't do that and to make it sink in quickly they do it in a pretty humiliating way.

This is just my opinion and it's not based on any sociological or psychological facts so take a lot of salt with it and remember that your parents are human too.

parents have been doing it since the beginning of time, they don't really mean to, it is just something that comes with parenting, sometimes it is to get a point across, so they think that if they embarrass their children it will make them improve, little do they know the plan usually fails.
Parents really want the best for their children, I don't know why they mess up so badly, and depending on how old your parents are. a lot has changed since they were young, which also makes it much tougher, so love them for who they are.

Sweet cheeks, it's really not intentional; it's been going on forever and will forever more. Seems it's in the genes during the teen years. Every generation is embaressed by their parents and swear they won't embaress their children! You'll never understand until you have children of your own. (But, granted ... it seems like some go out of their way to make you want to crawl in a hole!)

They might not know that they're doing it but then again they could just be teasing you and not be thinking its a big deal if it gets too bad just confront them and ask themt to stop doing embrassing things but on that note try not to come across as a snob or too good for your parents hope that helps

I'm sorry but it's embarrass. Parents do not deliberately set out to embarrass their children but there's the thing, they are children and they do some very childish things. Parents are frequently more embarrassed of their own kids than you are of your parents. Jules, Australia.

Because, as teenagers, we're snotty, rude, disrespectful brats who have no respect for what our parents say and do. We think we know everything about everything. Our brains are still developing, therefore, are underdeveloped. We're constantly changing, hormonally, physically, emotionally, and intellectually.

It's not what our parents are doing, but our perception of what they're doing that embarrasses us.

To keep you from doing the wrong thing, or to protect you. I mean why do we as children try to imbarrase our parents all the time. I think they are just getting even for all the torment we have put them through.

I find that when I embarrass my daughter it is not on purpose but quite honestly I find myself hiding my face more because my kids seem to embarrass me more so.... more just because they are being kids and I am not at that stage of my life.
But once in awhile I do it to my daughter because it is funny.

Now how do you know that they are embarassing you? I mean what standard do you go by? your parents know way more than you do, so maybe your wrong about the intent.
