in beauty school, we learned to do them, it is an old fashion hairstyle. You use some hair jel, and comb the hair down and with the combmove the hair one way and the next row the other way, kind of hard to explain. when hair is dry it will brush out in waves.you can also use long hair clips to hold the wave rows in place til dry.beautician for 15 years.yes, you do need to use a comb.

I am in beauty school now and we just finished finger waves. All it is, is manipulating the hair in a wave pattern with your fingers and gel. No comb, no curling iron, no hot rollers, nothing but your fingers. It is actually very beautiful when it is dried

You mean like in your hair? You just wet a piece of hair and curl it around your finger and then leave it theere for a minute or two. Let it go and it usually waves or curls depending on how long you leave it on your finger.
