catching them as you pick the up for petty crimes. Traffic, jay walking, etc. ( I could go on!)
I don't believe it would be possible for these people to stay here if our enforcement folks were on alert and poised to pounce when they had an illegal in their sites!
We sure aren't going to throw them all out at once. Maybe we could offer amnesty to any illegal who turned in 25 other illegals?!
Or possibly even paid them for any we were able to get hold of and we able to root out. A Bounty!
In fairness, there are some good people here and it certainly is an American tradition to come here escaping repression. Give the good folks a chance to do it right and don't let them steal the show by letting their fams in etc and it could be a good thing.
Give me you thoughts,Oh Wise Ones? (No need to contribute on this one, Pancha.)

Yes, we could smoke them out over a not too long period of time by simply strictly enforcing the laws we already have and most of them would deport themselves willingly and at their own expense before too long if they were denied employment or any social services, medical, etc. And, if we can seal up the borders completely, the illegal crossings would stop. Word would soon spread to the countries where the illegals come from that it is no longer viable to work illegally in the States or even leech off the social systems and they would stop coming. Only the honest ones would still come, by applying through the legal channels, and those are the ones we want, anyways! They would be forced to do something about the bad economic situations in their own countries. The states that have laws on the books forbidding police or social service agencies or schools or hospitals from demanding to see legal documentation should change those laws and the citizens of those states should demand that they do so or elect representatives who will do so. However, I don't care for your bounty idea - don't think that would work, for the most part. Just smoke 'em out by enforcing the laws we currently have and as they come to the surface through even small law infractions, ship 'em out. It won't cost nearly as much as what they are presently costing us and eventually the cost will be reduced until about all we will still be paying for is keeping the borders sealed and even that won't be so difficult after awhile when they stop coming because they can't get jobs, fake IDs, or social services.

Yes....just go to Home Depot's and Wal mart's all over the southwest between 5 an 6 am...Seriously.........Illegals will be caught by the 1000's.......Catching them is not the problem......There are only a few law enforcement agencies willing to enforce current Laws....... Sheriff's Departments around the country are now enforcing current laws concerning Illegal Immigration.......

There are places that have laws saying police CAN'T ask about immigration status during traffic stops, etc.
Yes, I agree that would work, and that is how I think the 'undesirables' will end up being deported, over time. (I don't know that it needs to be a felony, but a second catch shouldn't just be a release across the border in my opinion.)

if we made it a federal offense for a business to hire an illegal immigrant, so that if you hire one you lose ALL YOUR POSSESSIONS(including car, business, home, etc.) and get BIG JAIL TIME, businesses would bee too afraid to hire them, there would be no jobs for them, so they wouldn't hire them. and the illegals wouldn't come.
this only works if the government dose something to look for illegals within the jobs network, welfare system, and at minor offenses, and when found deport them FAR away as possible within their country of origin with warning of a SEVERE punishment for re-entry to the country. (ex. Alcatraz, lethal injection, deportation to a random uncharted island in the arctic)
if they are nice decent folk they should come here LEGALLY.

I couldn't believe our Prez and members of Congress said "we can't possibly round up all the illegals" so let's make them guest workers and then eventually citizens.
That's like saying "we can't possibly round up all the child molesters" so let's give 'em blanket amnesty and tickets to Disneyland.
