It seems that Catholics are not only the brunt of many cruel jokes, but also demeaned and ridiculed. Why is this?

Because people are rude! Catholics are a christian denomination also like every other denomination out there. People make fun of them alot because they know deep inside that most catholics are going to be in heaven when they are not. I am not a catholic i am non denomintial but i know a catholic who has been ridiculed

Because of all the cover ups
Because of all the greed within the Catholic Church
Because of all the sins they cause and then hide behind the bible.
Because most Catholics I have met are all Hypocrites
Why would you have to go to church to confess your sins to cleanse your soul to go back and do the same again, again and then again.
When if you are honest and true to yourself you would not commit a sin in the first place.
How many Catholics commit adultery or break any one of the Ten commandments over and over again to just go to Church confess and they are just fine and dandy.
Too many young boys have been abused by the Catholic Church.
Most of it is covered up and just brushed under the table.
I would rather give my money in a donation to help someone in need then give a donation to a Catholic Church
Who was it that Crucified Jesus on the Cross
"The Roman Catholics Solidiers".
I could go on and on but I will leave it there!!!!

I am Christian, and I worry about "religion" taking the place of a real relationship with God. I worry that legalism will take us further from God. I point no fingers at any particular denomination, (I do not know enough about the differences between Catholics and Presbyterians and Pentecostals and Anglicans, and, well....you get the picture).

In my mind, everyone would be a lot happier if they could know God personally. By knowing Him, it's easier to determine His will, and follow a Godly path. If there is one Catholic in the world who truly knows God and believes that God supports his religious activities (which are different from spiritual beliefs, by the way), then no man has the authority to say otherwise.

Peace

Love the person, hate the sin.
Being Catholic means that you practice a religion set up by man.
Being a Christ man or woman means you live a reality. A way of life.
The will be scoffers in the final day of this age. You need to be ready for them.
When you take the time to check out the history of the Catholic Church you will find many things that go against the teaching of Christ. This practice makes it easy to make your decision one way or the other

Yup. I hear ya sista. People are so ignorant because they ONLY point fingers at other groups and not their own. The Media plays a huge role in it too, because they only talk about the sexual abuse scandals of the Catholic Church, but do they mention what's going on in Colorado City, AZ? What dirty mormons are doing to little girls and women in general? NO do they talk about theft and fraud that some Rabbis have committed in the East Coast? NO

I was a catholic. I didn't know I was despised. I saw a bumper sticker that said "Catholic or pro-abortion, you can't be both". Nobody's pro-abortion. I just don't think doctors should go to jail for taking a fetus out of a woman's body. Nobody should force a woman to carrry anything inside of her for nine months if she doesn't want to. That's just one of the things I don't like about my ex-religion. There's much more, but space is limited. That's why I quit going to church.

Because the Catholic Church is the biggest scam in the world. Not to mention all the child molesting clergy that have been caught in recent years. The Catholic church practices idoltry, and has omitted and added things to the original scriptures. It is an organization built on corruption and intolerance.

There are a lot of punks running around these days puking the philosophy of moral relativism. Any person or organization that takes a stand on a moral issue is subject to the insults of these louses; the Catholic Church is no different. But I wouldn't let it bother me. These snot noses can preach nothingness all they want, and that's all they'll accomplish, unless you acknowledge them.

I certainly don't despise them. (I work with many Catholics), but one of the biggest problems is the fact the Church hid the pedophiles within their ranks, while claiming that Homosexuality is an abomination and Gay Marriages should not happen. Much of the stance of the Church is contradictory and people just don't care for the "forked tongue" treatment they get from it.

I don't think it is so much that the Catholics are
despised as the Catholic Church in general.
Most catholics are good people - it's the ones
that think there are the only true religion.
Hypocrites - do as I say .not as I do!
