People with Bipolar should avoid eating foods rich in carbohydrates (sugar, starch must be avoided) due to their potential to raise the adrenaline level in the body which may lead to hypo-mania or at least help trigger mania.
Plus bipolars should avoid the stimulatives like caffein(must consume drinks like tea, coffee and coke in the smallest amounts or get rid of totally)
Apart from these, all people with mental disorders are advised to have protein dominant diets for it's really important for their brain and nervous system .
Omega 3 (acids in fish oil) can be added to the daily diet in addition to the prescribed meds using 1-2 grams of omega-3 capsuls per day.It can lighten the effects of mania and depression in bipolar patients.
Vitamin C and folic acid is important in coping with depression.
That's all I have found out until now.I'm a bipolar too.

fruits, grains, vegetables ,fish,water...lots of water.
no caffeine
no sugar
no carbonated water of any type..soda wreaks havoc with the digestive system...reducing the nutrients absorbed in the stomach by a factor of two.
no cooked foods as first meal of the day.
any additional meals for the day are primed by eating fruits or raw vegetables before consuming cooked foods
when eating vegetables wait one hour before eating fruits
the same time goes for the reverse
limejuice, lemon and orange or tangering never on an empty stomach
if vitamins... use capsules...not tablets...the former is 3-5 times as potent and digestible than the latter
when you drink tea or juice never scal;ding hot or freezing cold...extremes of temperature sends the body into shock
altering the body chemistry...
no milk
no cheese
no yogurt
no eggs
this is the short list
and I diid not even get to detoxifying the body over a period of a year...or the use of the superfoods Chlorella or Spirulina instead of vitamins...research and application of what you find....will be your friend. resreach into the meds you are taking...the food you eat...intimate knowledge of your body chemistry...avoidance of the ph balance of your body falling into acidosis...eradication of free radicals from your system...monitoring of your choleterol level...this is only the beginning of the road to recovery
remember...you asked.

It is according to the medicines you are on for bipolar. If you tell the medicines, I will try to find out if there are any foods that interact with them. Also, look on the paper that came from the pharmacy where you got your prescription filled, it should say.

I'm not sure if you're trying to lose weight or just looking for good foods to eat in general, but try this:
