Unfortunately there is so such thing as spot reduction (losing fat from one place as opposed to another). When you lose body fat your body takes it from all over. The only way to lose weight is to burn more calories than you consume by either eating less, exercising more, or preferably, both. One thing you can do is to do a food diary. This is when you write down everything you eat and the time you eat it for a week or two. This allows you to see exactly how many calories you regularly eat and where they come from. For example, if you notice that you drink four Cokes a day, then just by switching to Diet Coke you can get rid of about 600 calories a day in sugar and not feel like you are being deprived of anything. Look for little changes like this that you can make easily and then give it a few weeks to see if you start losing weight, if not, make a few more changes and add in some physical activity as well....remember that losing weight is a slow long term process...its a marathon not a sprint.

Here is the magic mantra. I have tried many things for may years and this is the thing that works.

Every day i.e at least 5 days a week get on a tread mill and run for at Least 10 mins at a speed of more than 1 mile / 14 minutes. Then you can do some stretching or weight for another 10 minutes. So the whole thing with changing, shower will be about 45 mins or so.

Do this for two weeks and you will lose at least 5 lbs guaranteed. You will also feel great.

do crunches during commercial breaks. If you have a busy schedule.. wake up 10 min early and go for a quick walk, any little bit will help, get a 30 min work out video targeted towards the abs...Just do it 2-3 times a week and you'll see results in 4-6 weeks. But do it for yourself and your health not you mother.

If you walk for 30 minutes a day it will work out your abs, butt, legs and back. Make sure to eat a lot of fruits and vegetables and drink lots of water, especially while you are walking. Try it and see. Within a week you will notice some kind of difference. It works for me.

1. Exercise.

2. Eat small meals.

3. Less carbo and meat - more veg and fruits.

One great book is Fit for Life, which advocates eating in the right combination and many more useful information.

Sit ups work great for me. The last time I did like 100 of them I was amazed at how much smaller my stomach got. This is a great thing to do because it takes hardly any time.

Cardio, and not super heavy duty just steady cardio for 30 min to an hour a day should help.

If you start losing weight everywhere, this is usually where you'll notice it first.

Start eating smaller meals of what you like. You could even do many very small meals to get your metabolism going.
