NO one here who is not a Doctor can answer this question. You have to be looked at by a Doctor. Now,I have a hip that has popped ever since I can remember, and it never bothers me in the least.

I am extremely limber. I can put my legs behind my head, bend over and put my forehead on my knees (legs straight) etc. I used to gross my friends out by popping my joints out of place in high school. Shoulder, fingers,wrists...but now, I have severe joint pain; Rheumatoid Arthritis to be exact. Is it healthy? I don' think it caused my problems now that I'm old, but I think in the back of my mind that if I hadn't done that so much, maybe the pain wouldn't be so much. No, I don't think it is a "healthy" thing to do.

no it is Not. I could do that easily and one day it didn't go back in. I went to the Doctor and I completely tore my AC ligament which is the main ligament in your shoulder into I had to have surgery. You should start lifting weight to straighten the front muscle in your shoulder so it want happen as often or ever.

I can do this, too. I can flip other joints in and out of their "correct" positions, too.

One of my past b/f was a physiotherapist. When he saw that I was able to do this, he was concerned that it would lead to damage, and asked me to stop.

So far, I do not have much arthritis, but I do have fibromyalgia. I read online that FM is often found in people who can do this. AFAIK, one does not cause the other; FM is a bit of a mystery. FM is related to chronic fatigue syndrome, but "less fatigue, and more pain" as I tell people, to explain.

Your ligaments are more free and that means you're what's known as double jointed - no such thing by the way - I have no idea if it causes problems in your future with arthritis...look on the web.

all it means is that your ligament is stretched out to the point where its elasticity is gone. its not necessarily unhealthy, but i wouldn't pop it in and out so often, because even though there is no pain, if you stretch out your ligament too much, you may need to get surgery to cut a piece out so that your arm can stay in the socket.

It's just a flexibility and it's not healthy or unhealthy. But stop doing that, since you're putting unnecessary stress on your joints which don't last forever.

It's neither healthy nor "unhealthful". It's just something you can do, but you should refrain from it as much as possible because it will probably develop severe arthritis as you grow older.

It's not unhealthy or anything. You're just double jointed. No big thing. I wish I could do that though...
