sent email to my boy friend, proposed breaking up since his attitudes toward our relation really bother me. In his reply, he appologized for things he has done and let me know the reasons.
At the end of his email " but we can be friends OR ? "
What does he mean by OR? What does he think? What should I do ??

He's just not that into you. If he wanted to stay with you he would of said so. Move on. Your not that into him since your breaking up. So if your serious, what difference does it make what he meant.

I would take it to mean "I want to be at least friends, however has my explanation of my actions convinced you to remain boyfriend-girlfriend" I assume you are not just playing head games with him and sincerely want to break up. If you didn't feel so positive about this you would have asked him why he was acting like he was and would not have brought up the break up issue. Email is not the proper way to propose a break up. You should have said this face to face with him. He does not even call you to explain face to face? I think this relationship is dead in the water. Even if you get back together, shortly down the road he will break up with you.

He might want to stay with you , but since your requested to break up without first just asking him why he was asking that way...he is complying with your request. You want to break up and he isn't trying to beg you to stay with him (pride) so he's saying "ok, we can break up, but I'd like to be friends".

You should've just talked to him about his behavior FIRST before sending the impersonal break up email.

Be careful what you ask for because you just might get it. In this case, it looks like you got it.

I think the or leaves it open to let you decide where to take the relationship. What do you want? Let him know, sounds like he is up to it.

stop with the email and talk to him face to face.

you will either disolve the relationship or you will grow closer having disclosed more feelings to one another.

Sounds like he don't want a commitment, or hes not sure of what he wants right now.

You should ask him.
He may mean friend with benefits?
Could mean or not.

Ditch him. Tell him you need someone who is actually worth your time. No 'or'
