You are right. Charity begins at home. Look after our own FIRST and then when they are taken care of, we can look past our borders and if our own are looked after, there will be that many more Americans to help others in the world. I feel bad for Americans who can't get the basics that we freely give to illegal immigrants and to other nations in the world. I think our government is too busy trying to "look good" to other nations by being so generous to others. Look at our own victims of the hurricanes last year - most of them haven't been helped properly yet! Clean up our own back yard before we start helping the neighbours so much.

Wow sweetie as i can see you're pretty racist, cuz i've been seeing you on every question just talking trash about immigrants.
I don't have a problem with it, but maybe you forgot that the US was born and built by immigrants, you your self has immigrant blood even if it is 10 generations old. You shouldn't forget also that these immigrants are also the ones that makes the US rich as it is by bringing billions to the economy. I agree that we American have to come in first place, but maybe you just should not be so harsh on immigrants because all they came here for was for decent living. Sure there are criminals among them, but there are criminals everywhere in this world, and if these criminals comit any crimes all the government has to do is them back and never letting them come back again. Well anyway you will only understand that if you someday start being open minded ...

Exactly! This is precisely the point!!!! You just have to ask yourself WHY our government is more interested in helping the economies of Mexico and India (remember Pres Bush going to India congratulating the Indians for ripping off the jobs?) ... a country that doesn't look after its own citizens first does not deserve to be called a first world country ...

You are absolutely right! But why would anyone hire an American citizen when they can hire an illegal and pay no payroll taxes or health insurance? Then the taxpayers foot the bill for the health costs, since hospitals are not legally allowed to refuse service.
Solve the illegal problem, fine those employers who want to cheat the system. Employ Americans first. If we need more workers, then we can worry about bringing more people here.

Oh my.....vets, poor black people (wow....who knew only the black were poor), uneducated, those who can't find work.
If all 12 of the people who answered this question so vehemently focused on these VERY important issues......HOW MUCH BETTER would this BIG OLE world be. Can you imagine all the passion that is spewed so regularly by posters here.....all put into something as important as HOMELESS VETS, EDUCATION, POOR.
Nobody is fooled by "that is what I have always said".....bullshit....what most have said is "I hate everything that would mean giving a better chance at life to anyone who deserves it.....BECAUSE.....they did it illegally"......don't become humanitarians in one question.
My stance has NEVER changed from question to question.....
Peace

Yes, but you can't help those deserving people first until you address the over 4 million illegal aliens freely entereing unchecked, drug smugglers, human smuggling and high cost of having us integrate with them and not the other way around. Colonization is the issue, not immigration, they're not doing that.

i totally agree. Americans first for America...congress has to get the act together and start being patriotic to Americans...not to every person who holds their hand out from other countries...we can't and shouldn't be supporting the everyone in the world...

I think the same way about the UNICEF funds that are helping people in Africa (no offense meant if there are people from Africa here) when there are so many starving people here in America. I thought charity was supposed to start at home.

well at least the "poor Mexicans" are here to find a job, while the "poor Americans" just sits on his a$$ waiting for welfare, believe me if a poor Mexican can find a job like that *snaps*, then our poor Americans can too.
