I don't know about percentages but I do know there is a psychiatric condition called sociopath and like any condition there are degrees of severity. Sociopaths are evil. Our jails are filled with sociopaths.

I think that adversity during the formative years can either build character in a person, or in some people cause the opposite to happen and make them act out their aggression. An abusive childhood can make a person evil, obviously, but then some people come through and experience like that just fine. It seems to be a very individual thing. I'm not sure what percentage of people are evil in the world, but I'm sure they are the minority -- I know there are more good people in the world than bad. It would be difficult to come up with a certain percentage, because you would first have to come up with a definition of what is "good" and what is "evil".

Humans or people are still in the process of evolution. If a person does something bad to others, to himself and to society in general, we think that he is evil. A person also undergoes a process of development which is dependent on many factors, ideas, experiences and other aspects of life. What we are is a product of that process. That is why no two persons are alike in ways and character. Others are good, others become evil.

I don't know about percentage but judging from the above definition of what is evil, I guess the greater majority of people still do evil acts. But time will come when the goodness of wisdom will be embraced by humanity and we will become more civilized. Just compare the barbaric times to the present and figure out if humans have evolved for the better or not. If you say no, then there is no hope.

I think the majority of people have a higher percentage of good. But everyone has bad thoughts...you just have to replace them with positive thoughts. I think people are evil when they have had bad experiences or subjected to more evil in the environment than good. People act evil to serve thier purpose like expressing anger , frustration or revenge. Most people don't let evil dictate thier behavior even if they have had a bad life. They look at the good and dwell on the positive happy times.
I think 10percent of the people are evil and 9 % are in prison or psychiatric wards.

I don't think you can characterize anyone as pure evil. Even the worst humans the world has known has some element of good in them that they perverted into evil. For example, Hitler wanted to bring economic prosperity to his country, and committed several extremely evil acts toward that goal. This is because humans are made in the image of God, and everyone still has a faint flicker of that light in them even if the rest of them is made of darkness.

On the other hand, nobody has ever been completely good. Some of the most harmful sins are the subtlest. Take pride, for example. Thinking higher of oneself than warranted can lead to many evil acts, but even saints fall prey to this kind of thinking. I doubt there has ever been a single person who has never had a thought of hatred, or of lust. Jesus said that when you think these thoughts, it's just as bad as actually committing murder or adultery. (see Matthew 5)

So my answer is, 100% of people in the world have some evil in them, and the only way for an individual to reduce the evil in his or her own life is to acknowledge his or her need for a pure and perfect savior, and put their trust in Him. Because we live in a world full of evil, we will not be able to get rid of it all in this life, but we can work towards being less and less evil, and hold the glorious hope that in the life to come, we will be relieved from our burden of sin.

Lack of a belief in GOD, having no conscience. What causes that I don't know. Is it even possible to come up with a percentage of evil people. I DON"T THINK SO!!!!! There are too many in sheep's clothing. There are beautiful people who on the inside are just plain evil and you would never guess. Interesting question though. I am grateful for the gift of discernment

There are numerous reasons that can influence why a person may choose to participate in 'evil' actions: mental disorders and developmental issues (bad influences) are probably two of the main factors. I don't think anyone is evil...people just do bad things sometimes...some more than others.

We are all partly evil, what some religions call the result of "original sin." We sometimes find it hard to resist doing bad things, especially when we perceive some good coming to us as a result, whether it's a simple lie or doing harm to someone else. Some people realize that and become hermits, monks or nuns, trying to isolate themselves from "occasions of sin." Others don't really understand what they are doing. And still others take pleasure in doing evil to others. We all fall somehwere on that spectrum of evil-doing.

Humans are inherently good, those who are evil loose sense of what is right and wrong or in their mind they think they are doing the right thing; for example Hitler thought he was doing the right thing, he thought he was doing the world a favor. We all have evil inside of us, as well as good. There are probably more good people than bad. Also the way you are raised affects if you're good or bad.
