what to do if my side of my calf is swollen really bad with pain from a insect bite?

i was bitten 2 days ago. today it is very swollen. it feels warm, stiff and pain when press hard against it and mild pain when putting weight on it. it feels numb also. i've never had one this bad before. there's a total of 4 bite/sting marks. 2 in the area where it's swollen and 2 in some other area. i also have no idea what sting/bit me. i will be going to see the dermatologist tomorrow morning but want to know what can i do for now. i tried using a type of ointment for it but it didn't work. i'm not even sure if i should wash it often or not. any help will be appreciated. i also showed it to my instructor who is a RN for 20 years and she said if the swelling doesn't decrease i have to go to the ER (no insurance for ER). again, any help will be appreciated. thanks

My first thougth was to go to the er or doctor. Have you tried taking an antihistamine like bynadryl? That should help with the sweeling. You do need to go as soon as possible and have it looked at though. Good luck!

Call the ER and talk to one of the triage nurses to see if an Ice pack can be used... but be careful so as it doesn't get worse... If it is a spider bite you don't want to use Ice packs You need the venom serum and Only the Hospitals carry that!!!

Pardon my language, but haul your a@@ to the ER right now.

My son-in-law was bitten by a brown recluse spider. It did exactly what you are describing. He had to have a piece cut out of his arm.

The venom from the bite kills the tissue and it has to be removed.

Forget the insurance. You need to be seen and seen now.

Go to the ER now. They have a sign on the wall that reads, we cannot refuse service to anyone regardles of ethinic background or inability to pay.
