Just for referance, anyone know where to find day by day photos of Pigeon embryo development?

All birds are just alike when it comes to ebryo developement just like people are just alike, dogs cats and all other specieies of life forms. Here is a page that explains it in full detail. Although I know you were asking for real color pictures I have not found any yet. But I hope this helps.

All birds develop pretty much the same. In fact, in the early stages, all embryos look pretty much the same. This site has photos and a movie of the development of Chicken embryos as you would see them when "candling" the eggs:
