Sweetie, I understand your pain. And maintaining a healthy weight is a good thing. But try not to pin your hopes for how the next year is going to go by how much weight you can lose. You only set yourself up for disappointment that way.

That being said, we all know that the way the body loses weight is when we consume fewer calories than we burn. See your doctor or another trusted adult and set yourself a healthy goal. If you're out of school now, you should have plenty of time to exercise (unless you have a job, but you still need to find the time).

Pick a sport or an exercise that you enjoy. Swimming is one of the best ones you can do - it's low impact, helps develop those beautiful long muscles, and burns a TON of calories. I'm talking about lap swimming, now, not splashing in the pool with your friends. Although that would be far better than nothing. Exercise 3 days on, 1 day off, 2 days on, 1 day off. You have to give your body a chance to recover or you'll hurt yourself. When you exercise, go for 30 - 60 minutes at a time, but again, don't overdo. It's also perfectly acceptable to exercise for a short time several times a day. The point is to burn the calories.

After you get your exercise routine down, you need to look at what you eat. Write down everything you eat every day for a week. Include everything, even a stick of gum. Also, write down the time you ate it and what you were doing at the time. This should give you an idea of how healthy your diet is. Do some research on the internet for healthy eating, and plan accordingly. You should eat at least 1500 to 1700 calories per day - again, ask a trusted adult and DO YOUR RESEARCH on this part. You DO NOT want to get sick.

Continue logging your meals and exercise, and be sure to take a daily multivitamin and drink at least 8, 8 oz glasses of water every day. It may seem like a lot, but think of it as a way of flushing the fat out of your system. Depending on how much weight you have to lose, add another glass for every extra 25 pounds.

Remember, this has to be a lifestyle change for it to be really effective. Good luck!

Exercise is KEY! I've lost 24 pounds in the past 3 months by working out 6 times a week.

"i really need to lose weight so i want get picked on and have a boyfriend"

first of all, that's not that great of a reason to lose weight, but if it's your motivationi work with it.

how to lose weight by james:

stop eating breakfast lunch and dinner, eat all of those and brunch, mid-afternoon snack, and supper. yes, six times a day, but really small amounts...
don't do a bunch of situps and crunches..25-50 a day is great..
do do a cardio-based workout for 20 minutes a day
try to cut out about 200-300 calories a day..not too much but just enough..
if you can walk or ride a bike there, do that, don't get in the car to check the mail.

and basically just build off of those.

james.

Firstly, you need to do this for you, not for some boy, or for the crowd... otherwise it will never work and you will be miserable. If you do it for you every pound you lose is a celabration and a joy.

Check out Weight Watchers. I struggled with my weight for my whole life (30 now). I had all kinds of health problems. I was even looking at getting that gastrointestinal bypass surgury. My doctor wanted me to give this one final shot first. I lost 40 pounds in 9 months, (then I got pregnant.) From following the WW plan all of my health problems cleared themselves up. It is great. I went back on it after my son was born and I lost another 15 pounds in a month and 5 more since then. I have lost a total of 56 pounds, and there is nothing I am not allowed to eat. It's a great plan for someone who likes food. The best part is it teaches you healthy habits.

anyway, at least it is worth looking into. Go to there web site for information on the plan or to find a group in your area.
