It's not GOD that made the person who choose to act out and hurt others, it's the idividual. NOW if the church doesn't do anything then they are accountable.
A deeper study and understanding of just what the Atonement really is can help, and bring peace to a tormented soul.
The sad thing is too many times people blame GOD when in fact it is not GOD at all but Satan.

I have been hurt several times in my life. Now I don't get too friendly with the clergy and leaders. Satan takes great delight when we are hurt by the church and it seems to go on all the time. This is a real shame -- I listen to the sermons and teaching but mostly I read the Bible and trust God to enlighten me about things I don't understand -- which are many. There are some things we will never understand about people (remember they are human and can fall easily) and so I think the best policy is to leave it up to God to take care of it.
God bless you -- He loves you more than any person on earth ever will or could. You are special to Him and He has all the answers -- trust Him to enlighten you.
I'm sorry that you have been hurt.

Of course.
But these are all tests. No judgment is so hurtful that I might lose my faith.
I remember this girl in high school who was the most promiscuous person I had ever met at the time, she even had two kids before she graduated. Yet, she thought gay, Jewish, and Muslims are going to hell. Meanwhile, she's sleeping with the soccer team while her mother takes care of her two kids.
BUT she was a church going girl! If it was Sunday or even sometimes Wednesday nights, she was right there at church.
For awhile, her lifestyle made me question my beliefs.
How could someone be such a hypocrite?
I've learned these people exist all over the world to teach us how NOT to act or how to better behave. Yet, these people will never make me lose my faith.
It's a great lesson.

A new minister was assigned to our church. She is full of her importance. She looks a little like Tammy Faye.
She has torn our church apart. Half the congregation left to attend other churches. I stayed as long as I could but finally removed my membership.
I was handling it ok until she made my mother cry. That tore it for me. We reported her (the minister) to the bishop which was a waste of time.
Thinking about what I just said...my faith in God has not been damaged. My faith in ministers sure has.

i have been hurt by many so-called christians.
but i know that it wasn't God who was to blame.
It was them
I just changed churches and now i actually haven't got a regular church... which is sad.
the person who did the worse hurting was actually the lead pastor at the local church. He said, after a boarder stole from us, that we basically deserved it because we didn't get the churches OK to have her stay with us. At the time she was in trouble. We weren't going to just turn her away. What sort of people would we be if we did?

Yes, but I did not give up on God.. I let the people who hurt me know that they were not acting as Christians should and told them why I felt this way and then I eventually went to another church. However, these people are everywhere and sometimes
I am sure I have not done Christian things either, but I never set out to purposely hurt them, I have done things to let them know that I was angry though--did a little revenge on those who deserved it.
This involved how members disrespected my father and me when he was sick
This also includes a previous minister screwing my mom and then asking me out a few years later--sick!
