I think so, there is a Catholic school call Saint John (they pray every day). Saint John is one of those shcools you would find in the newspaper because of volunteer work. Southwood Middle School (my school), people brought guns 3 times and 2 knives this year. There is a fight everyday. At the old school i used to go to, we prayed and nothing bad really happened.

For "Lamoveimaven" you are so contemptible; yes I'll wait until you get the dictionary.

That's probably one part of it, though I'd imagine school violence probably stems from a combination of factors.

no...prayer was never a big part of school activities. I live in the middle of the bible belt and my schools never led the student body in prayer other than at the start of football games. Personal prayer is still allowed...this isn't a big brother situation.

Violence has been steadily increasing for some time now, each generation is worse. Why? Because most parents don't spend quality time with their kids anymore and many schools don't receive enough funding. When kids don't get the guidance and attention they need at home, their actions at school will get increasingly worse. The glorization of gang culture may also play a role in the problems.

My high school didn't have an organized prayer session, and we only had a few fights a year, no guns that I heard of, and maybe a couple times when a student got busted for bringing drugs to school...and that was over the 4 years I attended. No organized prayers at my middle or elementary schools...no guns, no knives, no drugs, just a fight every few months.

In short, prayers in schools does not correlate to lower rates of violence, however there is a direct correlation between school funding and violence. Schools that receive more money are typically in higher class areas and people who don't have to worry about how to pay for food or rent that week can afford to spend more time with their kids. This is why we should spread out school funding equally , it wouldn't fully fix the problem, but would help.

Prayer has nothing to do with it.

Children have been abandoned by their money grubbing parents, and are being used as cattle in that great social experiment called "integration."

Childhood is difficult enough without having to be shuttled across town to a "school" that looks more like a prison than a school, and when children return home from prison, they are greeted by an empty house.

And, to top it off, people (adults) tell them God loves them and the US is a "Christian nation" with strong "family values."

The sheer dishonest hypocrisy is enough to drive anyone berserk, especially marginalized children who have no real friends or support networks.

Please spare me "God isn't in the schools" crap, it is enough to make a person puke.

It is everywhere not just in one school. Society is breaking down and is fast approaching the point where the Govt. will not be able to control it. Nobody ever brought guns to school when I went, never. Now it is common. We never had metal detectors. Get used to it, the best is yet to come. You don't want God, guess who is the only other candidate. SATAN and he is all yours as only God can displace him. Dancing with the devil.
It is also not just one thing, it is many things and can't be fixed.

Finland has neither school prayer nor school violence. Don't confuse coincidence with causality. Oops. I forgot. You're a Christian. I shouldn't be using big words, much less actual real world examples to show how clueless you are. Let's just say "God is good" (monosyllabic, just the way you like it!) and leave it at that.

"As long as there are tests in school... there will be prayer."

Prayer was NOT taken out of school.... LEAD Prayer was taken out. Your teachers can not lead the class in prayer. Unless you are willing for us Pagans to come in and lead a Ritual in your class as well. Don't forget the Muslims, Hindu's.... are you going to allow a Hindu teacher lead the class in a religious ritual of their choosing?

So, who is stopping you from bowing your head in class and praying? No one is.

Please read the law that was set for this before saying "Prayer was taken out of school" and look at the circumstances that it would cause if you allowed LEAD prayer back in PUBLIC schools. Be sure, this Pagan will be at the public school to offer her services in a very traditional way.

Yes, it's because people have no direction anymore, a lot of them feel no reason for life, but prayer is only good when you sincerely believe in what your praying for and who your praying to.

there is more violence in schools because parents wont discipline there kids and let them do what ever the hell they want. also the school system wont do anything about bullies because of some outdated idea of its just a part of growing up. it has nothing to do with if there is prayer in schools.

It could have been, brainwashing is a form of control, if it stops, people may lose control and get violent. Brainwashing is not how to stop or prevent violence though, education is.

Yes, and we also need prayer in our homes. Pray for peace within your school.
