Believers in god say that the parents of these children (http://www.deism.com/harrison.htm) were to blame because they were misguided and didn't go to doctors that god supplied them. How can believers in god say that god gave us doctors, but, he didn't give us rapists and murderers also?
- You can't say because doctors follow the ways of god and murderers don't: there are Christian murderers and atheist doctors.
- You also can't blame Satan: Satan was created by god, which ultimately still makes god responsible for murderers and rapists if he is responsible for doctors.
You can't say that god gave us doctors and not murderers and rapists, that doesn't make sense.

CaptainMerMethyl, you're answer doesn't make sense, it also doesn't answer my question. The parents of these kids DID love god. They loved it so much that they turned to it for help when their children were sick. God never helped though, and all three children died.

CaptainMerMethyl, I understand that god has given people free will. Because of this, people can choose to love god and do the right thing, or, they can do evil things. I completely understand that, but, what does it have to do with my question?

If it's about free will, then people CHOSE to become doctors and it has nothing to do with god. In that case, why didn't god save those three children from dying?

Jack Bauer, you are being very cheeky. The conclusion of hypocrisy is based on observations relating to Christian Science. I'm a theist, and a monotheist but I also think Christian Science is absurd. You could say Christian Science is hypocritical and I would agree with that unreservedly. You could also say *some* monotheists are hypocritical, and I would agree with that too.
It is important to point out that you can't say *all* monotheists are hypocritical on this basis, because they don't all accept the ideas of Christian Science. I believe that a supreme being just made the arena, and we participate in his little 'Big Brother' scenario in whatever way we choose.
BTW It wasn't an oxymoron when I said 'atheistic faith'. That would be a faith that there is no supreme being. Unless a person can prove there is no supreme being (by proving there was no intentional agency in big bang, amongst other things) he is believing it without certitude. I have *faith* that there are no communists/terrorists, etc. under my bed when I retire. I don't have *knowledge* until I look or probe the area with a broom handle.

It's not really that God created doctors. There was no 'Let there be doctors!' and poof! there you were, a doctor. Ditto with rapists and murderers. Rather, he created people with talents and abilities and intelligence and reason. These people then choose how to use their gifts, whether to become doctors or murderers. Free will has a lot to do with it.

god does not supply doctors. there is no biblical support for that. that means that some religion is misguiding their money givers.
god created the angels, but a certain angel turned against him (angels have free will too), thus becoming Satan.
you have a great question here.

Your question is a famous question that has been asked since ancient times. It was also answered many many years ago.
(it is commonly called 'The Question of Evil')
God is a loving being. Being loving necessitates having another to love. That other must be able to love in return (free will). God created man for this purpose. This free will, necessary for love, also allows acts NOT of love. These acts are evil acts.
God did not and does not create evil, but out of love for man, he gave man a free will, which allows man to do evil.
RESPONSE:
JackBauer: you asked me what my response had to do with your question. So, here is your initial question:
"How can believers in god say that god gave us doctors, but, he didn't give us rapists and murderers also?"
As I did not explain clearly enough the first time, your premise is false. You say 'believers in god say that god gave us doctors...'
This, is a false premise. As I tried to explain, God did NOT give us doctors. He only gave man free will in which to use his talents to help or hurt others. Therefore, God ALLOWS men to choose to be doctors and/or rapists. This free will ALSO allows man to choose whether to utilize a physician when in need.
The parents used their free will for evil in this case- probably out of ignorance, not malice.
They should heed this tale:
==============================================
"A man climbed to the roof of his house, as it was overwhelmed by flood waters. He prayed to God to save him.
12 hours later, a man came by in a boat and said, 'Hey, buddy! Climb down here, let's get to safety!'
The man said, 'No thank you! I have faith that God will save me!'
With that, the boatman left.
3 days later, as the man lay thirsty on his roof, a helicopter came by and the rescuer shouted, 'Hey buddy! Catch this rope ladder, and let's get out of here!'
The man said, in a grovelling, thirsting voice, 'No thank you! I have faith that God will save me!'
The helicopter flew away.
The man, dehydrated, dies.
When he arrives in front of God for his judgement, he yells at God saying, 'God! Why did you let me die! You told me to have faith in you, and you would save me!'
God responded, 'I created a man who decided to get in his boat and save you, but you declined. I also created a man who decided to get in his helicopter and save you, but you also declined. You have no one to blame but yourself.'
===============================================
The moral here is, that the Creator is the source of all hope. What more of a miracle/sign did these parents need, than for God to create a man, give him love and freewill, and allow that man to choose to study medicine so he might help others, AND, that at their time of need, that man is available to them?
