The D70 is a great camera. If your previous camera was a digital compact you might be disappointed in the D70 because it doesn't over sharpen and over saturate like a mofo. It's not supposed to. If you want it to, you can adjust those settings.

A D70 is a great camera, you should be able to take high quality photos in any kind of lighting. If you are used to using a point and shoot camera this is quite a step up from that. The D70 has many setting, go back to the instruction manual and experiment with all the settings, or maybe look for a photography class to take. I am a newspaper photographer and I used a D70 for a long time to shoot photos and had great front page quality photos.

I am a professional photographer. I own 2 D1X cameras, a Canon 20D and A D70. I get great shots from my D70. If you are in the local New York City area, I am teaching a digital imaging course, 4 saturdays in June and July at York College, part of the CUNY system in Jamaica, NY
