its 1+1 and then after some time it becomes 1-1. so it difficult to say the real meaning of love. may be its confused with lust and likings.

Love would take whole encyclopedias to explain superficially. A short cut is to describe what love is not. Love is not what others feel for me, it is what I feel for others. Love is not a "shared" emotion. Other people's mental and emotional states are not within my ability to judge. Love is not unconditional. Like all EMOTIONS, it varies with the slightest change in the environment, real or imagined. Love is not a cure, a purpose or a reason for being. A loved one may be, but not "love" itself. Love is not eternal. It is an EMOTION.

Love is feeling the need and want to be with the other person all the time. When my fiance leaves for work I miss him so much and that empty feeling is with me all day until I see him in the evening. Love is knowing that you could not be without that special person in your life and putting their needs before yours.

I personally think that there is no true answer on the meaning of love. I do know that when you find it you will not only know but you will feel it. When you do don't let it go:)

When I leave for work I feel an emptyness inside me. When my wife holds me I feel like I have all the happiness in the world. When my wife is sad I feel sad and try to do anything to cheer her up. When she smiles at me a feel like the luckiest bloke alive. That is love x

being in love means thinking somebody is better than they are and then ignoring the evidence to the contrary even when it's all up in your face. It also means that you're going to be unhappy in one way or another eventually.

Love has several different meanings in the English language, from something that gives a little pleasure ("I loved that meal") to something that one would die for (patriotism, pair-bonding). And in contrast to the definition at the top, frequently people use the verb "love" to indicate want or desire for themselves as opposed to for another. For example: "I love ice cream," or even "I love Fidelia," does not refer to desiring wellness for ice cream, and it may not refer to desiring wellness for her/him, but rather to the desire for ice cream or for her/him felt by the speaker. The word also frequently indicates elevated appreciation or admiration: "I love that artist."
Love might best be defined as acting intentionally, in sympathetic response to others to promote overall well-being. Or to put it simply, "love responds intentionally to promote well-being" (Thomas Jay Oord). Love promotes overall flourishing, but often focuses on those close at hand.
Cultural differences make any universal definition of love difficult to establish. See the Sapir-Whorf hypothesis. Expressions of love may include the love for a soul or mind, the love of laws and organizations, love for a body, love for nature, love of food, love of money, love for learning, love of power, love of fame, love for the respect of others, et cetera. Different people place varying degrees of importance on the kinds of love they receive. Love is essentially an abstract concept, easier to experience than to explain. Many believe, as stated originally by Virgil, that "Love conquers all", or as stated by The Beatles, "all you need is love". Bertrand Russell describes love as a condition of 'absolute value', as opposed to 'relative value'.
