The idea of going to church or temple or any religious place of worship is to stop and reflect and take time for yourself and your family.

There are lots of good Christians that can't get to church like elderly and disabled people as well as people that have to work for a living.

Church's purpose is to offer fellowship with other people that believe the way that you do and to offer a support system to you and your family. How often you are able to attend doesn't matter. God does not require church attendance as a pre requiste to being saved.

Some one (I forget the name) made reference to Catholics and I am one. We are taught that to miss Mass on Sunday or any Holy Day of obligation is a mortal sin, but there are exceptions for sickness, elderly, etc but if you are able, you must make it to Mass. Now by mortal sin, that means we (our souls) are separated from the Grace of God and Christ living in us. It is necessary to receive the sacrament of Penance (confession) to receive forgiveness for all mortal sins in order to receive that Grace and Holy Spirit within us. For a Catholic to miss Mass and then go to Holy Communion on the following Sunday, without having been to confession, is a grievous offense and considered sacreligious. I know many people out here do not believe in this, but as Catholics, that is what we accept and believe. But then we get beyond the law as we grow spiritually and I would not miss Mass, not because the Church says so, but because I love to go and look forward to going every week. There is also Mass on each day of the week and I would be there every day if my situation permitted me to do so. I consider most precious every moment I get to spend time with Jesus. I know a lot of you will respond that God is everywhere and while that is true, He is always present in the Holy Eucharist inside the tabernacle of every Catholic Church.

You can stop working, go to Church and worship 24/7 for the rest of your life, and you STILL won't go to heaven because it doesn't exist. What do you mean saved? What do you want to be saved from?

No, you don't have to go to church to be saved and go to heaven. According to the Bible, church is for praising and worshiping God and for fellowship.

You can be saved and go to heaven if you truly accept Jesus Christ as your savor and repent of your sins. That is all that is asked of you.

Praying, going to church, reading the Bible....all help you to lead a good Christian life and learn about God's teaching. It can help you grow in your faith and understanding but not REQUIRED to get into heaven.

absolutely not. in the Bible, churches were set up totally different than they are now. they met in houses, and didn't do it every week at a specific time, with a pastor, etc. belief in Jesus Christ is the only thing that can save you. church is still a good idea because it strengthens your releationship with others and with Christ, but it's not going to keep you out of heaven.

Im Protestant so I believe God is everywhere and we can speak to him whenver we want, so if you dont want to go to church or cant its ok because what determines your acceptance into heaven is your faith and your actions towards others. I dont know why catholics say we HAVE to go to church and confess and all that crap or we will burn in hell. Thats a load of bullshit, going to church is your decision. What about all those people who are really evil in real life but still go to church, are they going to be forgiven just cause they go to church, i dont think so.

No, you don't have to go to church to have Christ in your heart and go to heaven. Church is a great place to learn about God and helps you to grow spiritually but in this day in age, it is almost impossible with our busy schedules and fast Pace living.

If you are concerned and want to grow more spiritually, there are ministers that you can listen to on the radio and on the net.

I like www.intouch.org Reverend Stanley. He doesn't try to take everyones money, he preaches directly from the bible and from his heart.

Also, read the bible whenever you get the chance to. I read it for about 15 minutes each day before I go to sleep.

no, you do not have to go to church in order to be saved. You have to be saved ( accepting Jesus into your heart as your Lord and Savior, and asking for forgiveness).to go to heaven though. Church can help a lot though with your walk with christ.

John 3:16
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

You don't *have* to, but it's something God *strongly* suggests. You only have to ccept Jesus as your Saviour, but if you do that and truly follow God, you will want to worship him and be in fellowship with other believers. It's the only way you will continue to grow in your faith. God should be above everything else in your life, and if you can't make two hours for him on Sunday, what's that saying about his influence on you, and your dedication to him? I'm not trying to be nasty with my comments, only help you to see that while it's not imperative, it's more than a good idea to go to church. It's worth it.
