o.k., so i went 2 the docter's 2day, and he didn't even have 2 give me a throat culture 2 find out if i had strep throat because the 2 walls in my throat were almost touching. anyway, it is extremely painful to swallow, even spit. i couldn't eat a frostie from wendy's, and applesauce burns. water is just as bad. i'm not sure if i can eat anything without feeling like i'm swallowing knives, but any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

There isn't really anything you can eat that won't hurt; that's the problem with strep. When I've had it, I have definitely avoided any carbonated drinks, and I avoided all citrus products (oranges, lemons, grapefruit, etc.)
Believe it or not, sandwiches and burgers didn't hurt as much. I just made sure to take smaller bites and chew, chew, chew.
You also might want to spray some Chloraseptic in your throat about 10-15 minutes before you eat. That will deaden the pain a bit.

Once you are on the medication your doctor gave you, you will start to feel better almost immediately. Strep throats are really painful. I know because I have had my share of them. Swallowing is very difficult as you know, so something very soft is all you can get down for a day or two. Ice cream, somewhat melted (by stirring it rapidly) always helped me. Stick to vanilla or chocolate or coffee, not those with nuts like butter pecan or even strawberry which has berries in it.
Good luck!! I hope you feel better very soon.

When I had strep throat I wasn't even interested in eating anything. You must be getting better if you are interested in food.
Your throat stills hurts; so drink as much warm chicken or beef broth as you can feel comfortable with. this goes down easily, tastes good and shouldn't hurt to much. And it really does fill the void and gives comfort.
The salt in it will sting a little but it is also good because it will clean and somewhat disinfect your throat. I have been sick many times and this I learned from many years of experience.
Good Luck!

The medication should give you some relief soon. Try chicken noodle soap, but not too hot, just warm. It will help to soothe your throat. You'll feel alot better in a couple of days! Make sure you take all of your antibiotics until they're gone, even if you feel better. You don't want the strep throat to return any time soon!

When I had strep throat I couldn't eat anyting. I would sip hot tea with honey and that would soothe that pain for a little while. Long enough so I could eat something such as soup or yogurt or ice cream. Hope you feel better.

Bless your heart Darlin' - check with the doc to be sure this is ok and then try this - I did it with my kids when they were younger and suffering from strep throat and they still do it today - buy a bottle of chlorseptic spray and spray your throat with it - it will numb your throat so you can stand to swallow a little better - then stick to broth, ice cream, popcycles - and feel better! God Bless ya!

The most remarkable remedies for strep are: Manuka Honey (incredibly active against antibiotic resistant bacteria), Collodial Silver (a close second), and things like Licorice to help soothe and fight infection, as well....

I know this will sound like it hurts, but fresh (not canned) pineapple is what I always gave my kids when they had sore throats. I read somewhere the enzyme in fresh pineapple is excellent for a sore throat. They keep asking for it when they're sick, so it can't hurt too bad! Drink plenty of hot tea with honey and lemon, too.

Try spraying Chloroseptic in the back of your throat before you eat. That will numb the lining of your throat and help with your swallowing.
Its not a "cure" but, I will stop a lot of the pain while you swallow that ice cream and soft stuff.
I wish you well..
