I heard housewives are now called "(something) engineer"! I really thought THAT was ridiculous. there's nothing to be ashamed of! By changing the words, you're not changing mentalities. You're just making people focus on what you do. It's stupid. And I think it's even worse!
It's like calling midgets people of small size (or something like that -sorry, I'm French, so I don't know the exact words). I mean, being a midget is not somethign you should be ashamed of! So why change the name?! It's grotesque
I spent my teen years in a place where the population was mixed (it's an island). Well, if you want to refer to someone who is white, or black, or Chinese, you say: "The Chinese guy over there..." or "The white girl over there", because it usually helps when he/she is the only "representative" of her colour in a group. People should just change their way of thinking, not just pretend they don't care by pretending they don't see differences.

I agree it's way outta control. Fancy singing Baa Baa Rainbow Sheep, how dare we adults infringe on childrens fantasies etc... I will always call a black boy a black boy. My father is a Maori, and you know quite frankly, we the minorities are not the ones complaining its all you white folk. I am more offended by all the hoo-har than the name calling. Haven't these people who push for political correctness, got anything better to do, its a big wide world out there, find something more meaningful to fill your days.

I agree. I can't remeber where, but i heard a thory that PC accutaly seperates and distroys cross culture communication, we are so afraid to affend someone that we avoid them and watch ourselves to the point that we don't interact like humans, bu like clones from the tight views of a few. The Musical Avenue Q has a song titled "Everyone's a little bit racest", it has a good humor view on the subject of PC. Speek your voice, and if people would stop being so up-tight, we could let PC go. It's to the point that we affend people outside the group we "offended" beocuse we "offended them"

That's completely nuts. Why can't we say someone is retarded anymore? They have to be "mentally challenged." I submit this for review, if we are so worried about offending f*gs and d*kes then why don't we just call them "sexually challenged?"
Honestly, I have no issues with people being gay. It's their choice and their life to do as they wish. It affects me in no way, except I live in Silicon Valley and I have to hear them b*tch about not having enough rights when they really get more rights. People just need to learn to stop complaining and enjoy life. Life is much too short to be sad and unhappy and angry all the time.

That's ridiculous--this year we couldn't even say "Merry Christmas," which has been said in America since the Europeans arrived here, then they took the word "God" out of the Pledge of Allegiance--now, they want to stop Mum and Dad? I am offended.

1) All the frivolous lawsuits started this. Lawyers more than happy to take the money for that.
2) All the attention people get from claiming to be "offended" by whatever word or phrase we NORMAL PEOPLE want to use.
They're just WORDS. They only hurt if you let them.

Of course it is. It's a ridiculous concept from the start. In the US we have the liberal left, especially the ACLU and activist judges, to thank for it. Oh, well, freedom was nice while it lasted, eh?

I know, it's disgusting. I'm all for progress, but that kind of stuff is ridiculous. Life is tough for everybody, and these people are so thin-skinned it makes me just want to stay away from the news.
