I have a short hair lab mix who lives inside the home. He is shedding so bad that my floors, tables furniture... everything.. is covered with hair by morning. Is this even normal?
I have another dog of the same breed but she's rarely ever shed.
He's about 7-8 months old. Could it be "puppy hair" shed? How can I make it stop??

** Answer to question.. no the two dogs are not of the same family of dogs. They both have lab in them, but the mixes may be different. Thanks for bringing up that point.

He may be shedding his puppy coat to grow his adult coat, but short haired dogs usually shed more than long haired dogs. It may be how they keep their hair short. I know because I have 4 Rough collies and 1 jack russel, and the jack russel sheds way more than the collies! Collies shed once or twice a year. ANyway, try giving him this AWESOME coat supplement called "Inflight Coat formula" IT REALLY WORKS!!! THE BEST STUFF!!! Go to www.inflightcoatformula.com IT WORKS!!! The secret of successfull show dogs...

Yes really a long haired dog does shed more then a short haired dog but both really do shed. Depending on the bread of the dog, they may have a additional coat of hair closer to the skin to protect them in cold weather. This include huskies and malamutes while short haired dogs like beagles and short haired dachunds do not have that second coat. There are a few types of dogs that do not shed such as Silky Terriers. If you are worried about shedding, check with the shelter people before you get the dog.

Short haired dogs like labs will shed a lot all year round. Make sure you are feeding a good quality food that is "nutritionally complete." I like Nutro - it has no "by products" and is reasonably priced. Have your vet check for intestinal worms - they can cause excessive shedding. Don't bathe him too often - no more than once every four months unless he's rolled in something. When you do, use cool water. Warm or hot water baths make them shed more. Also, get shedding blade from the pet store - it's a mini version of the kind they use on horses. That will take out a lot of the loose hair. Other than that, get a Dyson vacuum!

Some times puppies and adult dogs shed a lot because of poor nutrition or the wrong diet so make sure the dog is eating dog food not any other sort of food and then take the brush to the dog, if its not that I give my dog vitamins to reduce shedding. You can get them at Petsmart and they have reduced my dogs shedding to probably 50 percent.

You should call around to your veterinarian office or local dog groomer and see if they have a "stripper". I am sure it is called several different things. It is a high powered blower that will blow out most, if not all, of the dog's dead coat ( sheddable hair ). My mom is a vet tech and they have one at their clinic. I think she charges around 15 dollars to get the dog rid of its shedding hair. This would GREATLY help with the shedding. It will blast off all of the dead, shedding hair and causes to trama to the dog. If anything, it seems like it feels good to them to get rid of all of that extra hair. Alot of people will bring their pet in every spring to get the "winter coat" blown off when spring arrives. Good luck !

It's all just a matter of personal preference. I have short hair and guys like it. And i prefer a man with short hair over a person with long hair because long curly hair tends to make guys look too girly.

Well, I would brush her regularly. That usually takes care of it. My dogs shed really bad and it's about the only thing you can do except for shave your dog.

I think that this is normal ~ especially during the summer when dogs begin losing their undercoat. If you brush him/her thoroughly once or twice a day while you are outside...it will make a huge difference in the amount of hair inside!
