So many people today claim to be Christian, yet they do whatever they want,(race cars, play music, sports, etc,).They say "I'm doing this for 'the Lord' ", yet Jesus only asked them to make disciples, and follow His path. Do t5hey really think they will receive life, when they ignored Jesus' instuctions?

I never said I was a Chistian, or that these activities were fobidden. Only that there is no benefit to proclaiming some belief, and then not complying with the well documented requirements of that teaching.

Apparently, many of you suffer from some sort of comprehension disorder. The persective of this question is not as a person sitting in judgement, but of one astonished by the lack of love for fellowman exhibited by people who claim to be representing the God of Love. The fact that some didn't really try to empathize further reinforces the premise by which I posed the question. Can any who accused me of judgeing others comprehend that by doing so they in fact are guilty of judgeing others? Anyway they happen to be the same as the ones on whom this question was asked.

Dude, I'll answer your question when you answer me this: Where in the Bible does it say you that you can't race cars, play music, sports, dance, etc, and be a christian at the same time?!! Are you crazy?!! You can still have a life, and be a christian!! None of those things are a. forbidden in the Bible, b. and none of those things are morrally wrong!!! I play music all the time, country music mostly, I play the piano, and am learning to play the guitar. In the Psalms doesn't it say that many of the songs are to be accompanied by musical and stinged instruments?!!! Music is a way to glorify God! I don't race cars, because I think it's rather pointless and dangerous. Playing sports is not a sin either. I play ultimate frizbe as well as other sports for enjoyment and to keep my body in shape. There's nothing wrong with that!!! You need to study your Bible some more if you think you can't do these things and work for the Lord at the same time, you can be a witness to people in almost whatever you do! People will know you for a Christian by the choices you make and the things you say. Not by whether or not you race cars, play or listen to music, play sports or anything else along those lines!
Oh, and for the record, I'm a Christian, and I do all of these things(-the car racing) I even play paintball with friends from my church! :)

Why is it that Christians like you worry so much about what others are doing. It is not your job to judge others.
These people are playing sports, playing music, singing, acting, and so on because those things they do are gods gift to them. Many can use those gifts as a witness to others. God does not require us to go out and make disciples, By living our lives as god has commanded will show others what we have.
My question for you is this. What is missing in your life that you need to judge others? Why does what they do bother you so? Do you know each individuals hearts and what their relationship is with God is, or are you just guessing, better yet are you jealous that they have something you don't?
I am assuming that you are a church goer, and that every week you go to church to get your fill of God. I can only guess that your church like all others is very hypocritical and judgmental.
Get right with god, better yet get perfect with god before you are so quick to judge.

Do you think the will of the Father is to judge others in their walk with God? Maybe the will of the Father is exactly what they are doing because of the vast amount of influence they are able to carry with the fame or endeavor that they are successful at. Sports, music and car racing...if they are being done for the glory of God and not in ones own name with no acknowledgement of Him is an awesome thing. There are literally thousands of famous people out there whose only goal is to recieve accolades from their contemporaries in their mutual admirations society and couldn't care less about their fan base except and unless they are buying the product ie, CD, tickets and merchandise. There are other celebs out there who know where their gifts and talents come from and give the credit to God and utilize this talent to help others. The talent is there so why bury it. I think Jesus even warned against this in the Parable of the Talents. Love in Christ, ~J~ <><

Have you ever watched the movie "the matrix?" A common theme throughout that movie was that certain computer programs in the matrix were there to perform a purpose, or a function.
For you to say that Christians are not doing the will of the Father is very presumptious on your part, because you cannot possible understand the will of the Father. The Lord works in mysterious ways, and I believe we are all doing the will of the Father. The bible predicts events will happen, and we are all doing our part, whether it be evil, good, or somewhere inbetween, to fulfill the scriptures.
So are you really so sure we are not doing our Fathers will? Only he knows for sure. I know I don't.

The phrase "I'm doing this for 'the Lord" is only a parable
They use the name god to piss you off, man everyone knows Christians are hateful, if they help you, believe you me they want something in return, these people are EVIL brother, they no more believe in that crap than the man in the moon, they use the church "I AM A CHRISTIAN" look how wonderful my poetic life is, to hide there ugliness, but just hang out with them, they do the same things non believer do, then pray no one ever finds out how sick they are

There are several reasons, one of which has already been given, human nature.
The other reason is that those that attend church are not always being told what the Will of the Father is, just the will of the Pastor.
And just in case your wondering why I would say that I am a Pastor and have seen and heard first hand what some are being told.

Jesus never said we could not race cars, play music, ect. there are many ways to witness. the Bible says whatever we do we should do it for the Lord. The Bible also says eat, drink and be merry. God has different roles for all of us.

It is true!
People should put Jesus first in their lives!
Listen to Jesus teachings.
Some people just say they are Christians, without having any idea what it means.
We are all sinners though, and we all lose our way sometimes. If we truly beleive in God and his son Jesus Christ and repent for our sins, we will be saved. Salvation is not based on Good works.

If we were all doing the will of God we wouldn't have homeless people or hungry children. Jesus also said not to judge, but that one seems pretty well ignored too...

I really do not know the answer to your question, people can probably give you hundreds of reasons all of them making some sense.
The one thing I remember my Father telling me one Sunday, " there are a lot of people in the Church, but very few Christians"
