Being that I am a Christian, I realize that the number of the enemy is 666. But, in my opinion, this is God's day, not Satan's. I think it important to be ready at all times, not just one day. We will not know the day or hour, so it is impossible to accurately identify this. If you believed that the world would end on this day, please state your reasoning for believing so. I am just curious as to what you think. If you did not believe that the world would end on this day, please, once again, state your reasoning.

Well, according to the bible, no one knows the day or hour when this world will end except for god himself. If someone says it will happen on a certain date, if they say there is evidence to it, you might as well discount that day right on the spot.

And also, 666 is not the number of the enemy. 6 is spiritual imperfection, 3 is emphasis. So to say 666 is to say ultimate imperfection, and this is what is assigned to the devil.

Some people get caught up in doomsday prophecies, but maybe they need to slow down and see what is still left to occur first. I did not believe the end of the world was just yet, because I heard a talk given by a leader of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Boyd K. Packer, which was recorded in 1987. It was addressed to Seminary-age students (say 14 to 18). He said in effect that there was still plenty of time to have children and raise a family, and jokingly added that "would serve you right." Then he said there would even be time for grandchildren. If you say the oldest students in that range got married soon after that, say by age 20 in 1989, and then if they had children who also were going to get married around age 20 in 2009, the very earliest you could even conceive of the world coming to an end would be about 2010. I am inclined to think it is several years later than that, because I was one of the 18-year-olds in 1987 and I haven't had children yet. So we should stop worrying so much about the early years here in the 21st century and just pay attention to what we need to do with spiritual goals and helping those around us. Have a happy day!

I wasn't expecting the appocolypse or anything, but I was expecting some terrorist group to do something on 06/06/06 just for the sake of adding terror to a date that already had a built in terror.

Look at 9/11. That's become a household term. You don't have to explain it to anyone...and everyone knows exactly what you're talking about. Terrorism is about instilling fear and with recognition. Could you imagine them putting 06/06/06 in the books as a day of fearful victory?

People believed the world would end on this day because it is comforting for ppl to set a date.

Although there is no date and time. There is only word so far:

Because people are scared easily by things they don't fully understand. I mean, the Church of Satan even released a statement saying there are no "prophecies" or anything that suggests that anything unordinary should happen on that day, and yet people still went on about.

The date is past; why are you posting what you feel now. You should have done that on 6/5/2006. Are you one of those people who waits until the loser is known then switch to the winning side?
