I think the police should have a device that they can get set up ahead and use a lazer target and just shoot and blow up the vehicle that is refusing to stop, after all, by not stopping the person is causing serious risk or death to the innocent public. By the way a 2000 lb automobile is considered a dangerous weapon when it's not stopping for police and therefore I see nothing wrong with the Police shooting the fleeing felon.

What a great question! I agree. You have to be careful that stopping a vehicle does not cause it to go out of control. That could be more dangerous than the chase itself.

With all the computer technology, you would think there would be a chip that can shut the engine down with a remote control device.

Yes, but that is a unrealistic way to look at it. They can't go killing a suspect because it might be a few factors that they can't. Police are about arresting people not killing them. In your view point you would be killing a guy who pulled out a knife on a robbery, and a cop going up and shooting him in the head point blank with out a chance to surrender. It is a bad way to think about it. A few good things police could do is, have the cop cars stop, but have a chopper follow the suspects, so hopefully they calm the driving down, and once they get out the cops can get tehm on foot.

The police do have weapons that can destroy a vechical, the are mounted on the front bumper of an interceptor. They are sucidial low profile romote control car, they engage on straightaways and produce a massive amount of speed to go under the vechical and then detonate, rendering the vechical in operative while sparing the drivers life

these devices already exist , a high voltage strip that is layed down ahead of "fleeing felon"will zap his fuel injection computer and stop the car . maybe him too if he becomes part of the ground path circuit, [sweaty body touching metal] of course if you have a older non computerized car you may still get away[temporarily] the old adage you can out run a cop , but you cant out run his radio is still true . 99% of cops are good about this but there are always a scant few who will chase a car into hell disregarding life limb and property of those whom he's supposed to protect in order to "catch the villain". this is not good either.

Outrun the police. It's pretty easy when your doing 100+.
I have never even had an officer pull out to engage me while traveling over 100mph. They just continue to sit in the median eating their donuts.

a good solution is just to STOP!!!!
So, the next time the police are hott on your trail, you need to come to a complete stop. It's not that hard and they won't hurt you too bad. Give it some thought. Good luck!!!
