Calls for bans and boycotts are the signs of an institution running scared. Is it really so weak that it is unable to argue its case, and wants all forms of criticism or contradiction of its doctrines suppressed?”

In a democracy the Church must argue its corner like everyone else. People can then make up their own minds what they believe. To try to enforce their view of the world by censoring others out of existence is not acceptable in a democracy where free expression is paramount.

Catholics protest that book because it is an expose' of their churches sins, lies, and perversions. No true Christian who is firmly grounded in truth bothers about it.

This I believe; http://homelessheart.com/testimony.htm

First, the Church isn't a democracy. If you read the Bible, God is in charge....PERIOD. We have free will to believe...obey...or not.

At first I thought the church was crazed about the Da Vinci Code because of all of the historical errors and Biblical stuff being shown wrong....as a method of disproving Christianity.

After researching the Code myself, and finding it completely wrong...and very easily proven I might add....I went to my pastor and asked why he thought the churches were making such a big deal about it when it's so easily proven wrong.

His answer was simple....because most people won't take the time to study the Bible or History to prove or disprove it....they will just take it as a fact.

Looking at Hollywood and History....I've met many people that watch movies and take them as fact, especially if they have some historical characters in them.....Wyatt Earp and Tombstone are good examples. I've met people that use Saving Private Ryan as Normandy Doctrine and that saving Private Ryan is why we invaded in the first place.

It wasn't about Christians changing or start disbelieving in the Bible...it was about other people looking for Christ being misled by a fictional movie.

Many CHristian groups, but not all, protest this movie because it claims that their savior was a plain mortal man. He was not supernatural, just a man with a message. It also claims that Jesus was married and had a daughter.

It also asserts that the early church covered up and destroyed many early Christian documents that made mention of Femaile Divinity. The reason being that they wanted to take the Pagan ideal of sex being divine out of religious concept. It made people easier to control. For these reasons, Witches were considered the enemies. The represented Free Thinking. NEither the Catholic Church or its political counterparts wanted that.

SO books like the Witches Hammer were issued. And henceforth including presently. Witches are still persecuted by preachers and politicians.

In my opinion, the church is afraid that people will realize that the bible was written by man. There are many additional documents that could have been included as books in the bible, yet were omitted by the church leaders. Some believe that those books were left out of the official bible so that the church leaders at that time could remain in power. Also, those books were left out as a way to keep women as subservient to men. They didn't want to admit that women could have a voice or power.

The church fears that people will do research into the documents that were left out of the bible, and realize that the church has manipulated those documents. The people might realize that the church is not infallable, and that, perhaps, religion is a man-made institution.

Some people actually believe the movie/book of the Da Vinvi Code. But, it is actually a Fiction book. Meaning that it is NOT true. It mixes some facts which are true in the Bible with things that are not true. I think this is why so many people actually think the whole thing is true. But, I dont see anything wrong with seeing the movie. I believe that a movie is a movie. It's believing everything that the movie says is wrong.
1John4:1
Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.

Because people get so caught up in the drama that they fail to recognize that "The Da Vinci code" is a work of fiction.

If I remember correctly, someone even wrote a book "exposing" why "The Da Vinci code" couldn't possibly be true. I bet that guy felt like a real idiot after someone finally got the balls to raise their hand and point out that it is clearly a fiction book.

Did you see the movie? Because they kind of explain it in the movie. In the the movie there's an ancient organization who's sole purpose is to protect the proof that Jesus was human (the proof was his decendants, he was married, yaddayaddayadda). There was a second organization who's sole purpose was to seek and destroy the proof, claiming that proving Jesus was human destroys the faith of the whole religion, and disproves that he had these magical powers, thus destoying the church and so forth. So I'm assuming that since the Organization assigned to protect the living heir won, then the movie kind of states that Jesus was in fact human with a wife, who bore his child and I think that the idea of that angers a lot of people because they base their faith on Jesus being a deity and not the actual religion. That explains why they won't argue their case because they don't want to admit to something so stupid.

They have nothing better to do with their time then to cause drama. The Da Vinci Code is a fictional story that may have accuracys and that scares them to death. It's hard to come to grips with something you believe in turn out not being the truth.

I protest it because I don't like to see people writing lies about my Savior.
How would you feel if I wrote a book saying you mom or someone you love was a whore and all kind of horrible lies. I would tell everyone it is fiction. But would it really matter to you. I mean there is still all this horrible statements about your mom there.
And even worse, some speculate that some, maybe not all but some is true.

Allot of Christians were mocking the Muslims for protesting about a cruel cartoon about Muhammed, strangely the Christians do exactly the same now when they are on the recieving end.
