allright well you've already gotten some really solid answers. First off let me say, don't expect to lose 20 lbs in 3 months thats unhealthy. Secondly, see a doctor. You may have a metabolic disorder. Your awfully young to be already struggling with a weight problem. So if you get your doctors okay then I would agree with most of the previous answers. Get off your tuckus. Get moving everyday for about 30 minutes. Work up a good sweat. Walking, running, biking, hiking, skating, swimming, whatever you have access to. Next.. watch your diet. So cut out snacks, stick to three balanced meals a day. Check your proportions as well. I don't know exactly what a 12 year olds proportions should be so do some research there. Drink lots and lots of water like 64 oz a day or more. Water helps you metabolize all the junk you eat. And lastly get 8 + hours of sleep everyday. No exceptions on any of these things and I bet you can lose 3-4 lbs a month. Anymore than that can make you sick. I'm not a doctor or a nutrition specialist. I am a mommy so i've done some research... hope it goes well and remember to stick with it

When I was about your age, I was about 4' 10" and weighed about 145! It was hard not looking like the rest of the girls. So I spent the whole (and I mean the WHOLE) summer working at losing weight. I'd get up & go for a 15-30 min. bike ride before breakfast, eat a piece of fruit and a slice of toast for breakfast (or had a meal-replacement shake, but since you have no $$ that might not be an option), would do whatever until about 10, have a snack (raw celery, carrots or sometimes even an apple), do whatever until lunch, have some soup, carrot sticks & 1/2 a sandwich (or a meal replacement shake, but I'd only have 1 shake/day), go for another bike ride, a walk or do an aerobics video, goof off until supper & then have whatever my mom had made for supper, tricking myself into smaller portions by eating off a dessert or luncheon plate. I also had little to no soda or juice & drank only tea, water and milk. Anytime I started to get hungry, I'd drink a full 8 oz. of water or milk. If I still felt hungry, I'd allow myself some raw veggies. It's hard work, but definitely worth it. In 3 months, I was down to 120 (and more importantly, from a size 12 to a size 5!).

Go get these books: The Ab Diet, Body Change
AND....spend time walking each day. At least 30-45 minutes. The ab exercises in the books will help you with the love handles. Go to the library and check out the books, along with some DVD's on pilates, yoga or other indoor exercises you'd be interested in. The reason I say this is because if you're not going to a gym (due to the $), then you won't want the rain or bad weather to be an excuse for you not to do your workout. Work out at least 4-5 days a week, and over a month's time, you'll start to see a big difference. I PROMISE.

Hey Kiddo..i coach lots of kids and I can tell you that I recommend exercise over dieting any day of the week! Proper diet is very very important but "get up get out and get going" the three "G's that I tell all my kids. Being over weight isn't fun...and i'm not the skinniest guy in the world either, but I do exercise and I do eat healthy. I have two brothers that are huge and I know I would be like them if i didn't do what I do now. Find some sport or something that gets your heart rate up and make it fun...don't make it work. If it's work you'll get sick of it and quit after a month. Stay away from this one thing...SODA...even diet soda! If you drink water and eat a normal diet and exercise you will have success! I feel ya so I hope this helps and you get down to where you feel great!!!

First of all, don't worry about losing 20 lbs over the summer. On a 12 year old's body frame, that is a lot of weight to loose too rapidly. You don't want to do anything that could make you sick or just unhealthy in general. Instead, be consistent with your weight loss goal. Like everyone else said, drink lots of water, eat smaller portions of healthy meals, and exercise. Try to join some kind of class or sports team that will be fun for you so you don't feel like you are killing yourself. You are too young to put your body through a rapid weight loss like that. Get your parents involved! Be careful! Good luck!

well, the easiest way I've found to lose weight is eat LOTS of celery. Other than that, don't eat a lot of junk food. Stay away from greasy, fried foods, eat healthy foods, like fruits vegetables, and grilled meat. Most importantly in losing weight is to exercise, ride your bike for half an hour every day and the pounds will come right off! As for the love handles, put your left hand on your left hip, raise your right hand, and bend to your left. (same for the right) Do that maybe 20 times on each side a day and it should help. Good luck!

if your tall 130 is not bad,
but if you have special K pinch, try walking, riding a bike, swimming with a whole piece suit. jogging, lift weights, play ball with some of your friends just get active. since the school systems don't have the PE regiment they used to have children are over weight more often today then the yesteryear's. as you see there are a lot of options out there for activity to loose or firm up your body.
stop playing video games, as all you do is sit, step away from the computer for exercise.
lay off the candy, i know about the candy thing, i am an adult and i am a chocoholic. drink less soda and more water, juices and milk.
good luck and have fun doing it.

1) Start drinking more water: When you get up in the morning, drink a bottle of water before you allow yourself to eat anything. Drink another bottle before lunch, and another before dinner. When you get hungary for a snack, make yourself take 5 gulps of water before you can have one. Soda, milk, etc... do not count as "water", but there are some great flavored waters out there, or you can just buy a lemon and cut it into like 10 wedges. Then squeze a wedge into your bottle so it doesn't taste bad. If you don't have money to buy bottled water, get one bottle, and refill it all summer with tap water and your lemon wedges.
2) Remember the mottos "no pain, no gain", and "pain is weakness leaving the body", and "go hard or go home", and "pain is good, its your body's way of telling you that your not dead yet".
3) Begin exercizing. If you are out of shape now, start by light jogging. Don't be afraid to get out of breath. If you have never been a runner before, start right now with going 4 blocks: you run the first block, walk the second block, and run the third block, then walk it home. Go every day, and add one block each day. Once you get up to 10 blocks, start only letting yourself jog slower during the parts you were walking. Cut walking out completely. So then its Run a block as fast as you can, the slowly jog the next block to catch your breath, then run again, etc... When you build this up to about 20 blocks, you will be able to say that you can run 2 miles!!!
4) Don't forget to stretch out each day before and after you run. Look up simple stretches on the internet. Hold each stretch for at least 10 seconds. Learn to love stretching and working out because you love your body and it feels good.
5) The other posters are right, don't concentrate on your weight, concentrate instead on how you look in the mirror, how much energy you have, and how you feel. It is healthy to loose about 2 lbs. per week. But remember, that if you are only 12, you are probably developing and gaining a little weight. This is not all bad. When boys mature, they like girls with curvy hips and breasts. Remember that. Don't let yourself purposely be a stick girl! Be healthy!
Good luck!!!

aww i had the same exact problem. i used to be soo overweight in middle school. and i know it seems like your FAT or w/e but rlly your bodys gonna change so much and probably slim out. but until then...just work on eating healthyily, slowly, and less amounts. i know tht seems like a big change but if you do it gradually then your cravings, appatite, and stomche will change over time and itll be like a new lifestyle. also...excersise will make such a big impact when your eating healthy at the same time. just try stuff like sit ups and any stomache excersises you see in magazines or w/e b/c thtll slim you down. i know exactly how you feel. i slimed out and everything but i still feel fat and i have lovehandles also. just remember also tht everyones body structure is made to be different, and your friends just arent built the same as you. good luck!!
