You can go to craigslist.org and see if there are any free dogs that someone had to part with. Some people give away their dogs to good homes when they move to a smaller place or do not have time for the dog anymore. For example, a new job with long hours or enrolled in school, and can not spend time with the dog. Dogs require attention, and can not be left alone for long periods of time. Also you can try local animal shelters, spca, and animal control, or animal humane society. Check these orginazations in different cities near you, as their fees vary. I hope this helps, and good luck with your new doggie. :)

Adopt from a shelter or the Humane Society, or try rescue groups. Prices are about $120., but that includes spayor neuter, shots for a year, worming, a phsical, and in New York state, now includes a microchip implant in case dog gets lost,

Ask EVERYONE...tell everyone that you are looking for a dog. I received a [free] cute little pekinese years ago for my little girl because one of my co-workers knew someone whose illness kept him from walking the little one anymore. ALSO...I used to work at a library with a co-worker who would attract the most beautiful cats (family members/litters/word of mouth neighbors, etc) and could have had several gorgeous pets from her alone. SO ASK!!! and tell. Best wishes!

Try humane societies first, and then you'll be saving a dog too! Also, the less pure bred the dog is, the cheaper it will be...it will also be a better pet.

Go to your local animal shelter. They have all breeds and cost very little. You will also be saving a dog.
