Now that Abu Musab Zarqawi is history, are we likely to see another single figure rise to power in his place ?

Most leaders when they die are replaced by their deputy.

Yeah, sad to say he will be replaced.

Zarqawi had a turncoat in his organization. How do you replace someone with 25 years of experience and charisma. He was recruiter in chief. Most of his contemporaries have met similar fates. The question should be who will be stupid enough to do it? An Egyptian has been mentioned but most likely even he has been compromised. When you kill the big guy theres goodies to be had and remember, while Tactical Air delivered ordinance on spot 17 raids happened at the same time.

Zarqawi requested that al Qidea attack Americans, and even citizens. However, people think he ruled al Qidea. What people don't realize, is that to join al Qidea, you don't have to sign up and go through training. although you can, you don't have to. Basically, if you are into radical thinking, and wnat to blow yourself up for the word of Allah or kill U.S. troops, then you could be considered al Qidea.

I hope that al Qidea doesn't get some new leader like him. However, if they do, 1. I hope they're not as powerful, and 2. They need to quit carrying out attacks on Iraqi citizens.

Yes though, he will be replaced.

dude, there are about a gazillion muslims who would gladly take zarqawi's place! they ******* hate us and there is no shortage of fanatics to keep up their insane fight. that's why we cannot possibly win the "war" in iraq, even though that pea brain we have as a president seems to think we can. idiot.
