I spend too many hours a day using the "scooper" I figure it would be easier to keep the yard cleanof seven dogs if I just litter box trained the dogs. Has anybody had any success with that?

Where would you put the litter box ? In the yard ? Or in the house ? Doesn't really matter...seven dogs are going to make it a real mess wherever it is. I've trained my two 12 pound dogs to use a large litter box inside. Basically, just train as you would paper train a puppy. Put newspapers in the box, top them with a puppy pad and take them to it frequently. Use your "bathroom" word, praise them to the skies if it should happen...but don't hold your breath. Once one starts doing it, the others will be easier to train.
Putting some of their feces in the box also may give them the idea, it helped my Bichon.
If accidents should happen in the house, get some Urine gone, Febreez, vinegar & water solution and clean it so they cannot smell urine anywhere else but the box.
I really think outside with a scooper is easier. I have to be gone three days a week, all day, or mine would go out on leash several times every day .
Another thought...you know you don't have to clean the messes up as soon as they fall...You could probably find them all later in the day.
Actually, just put a small boy in new, white tennies out in the yard and he'll find every one of the messes for you. Good luck.

I not ever tried that. Nonetheless, we had small dogs and the way we trained them was to have them sleep in a small, restrained space (laundry room worked well for me). The puppy failed to need to make a large number the place he'd be sleeping, so he'd ask to move out. We might do treats and matters. It was simplest a subject of time earlier than he asked to go out each time he needed to go potty. Now we have completed this with two dogs, one was once a grown dog who had under no circumstances been informed. We had tried a few other approaches to no avail. This worked like a charm. When we received our new puppy, began out on this approach from the establishing. He used to be a clever little thing and picked up on it very quickly. Just right good fortune!

I have had success with one of my chis using the litter box. She took to it right off, while others did not have a clue. I suggest using paper in the litter box, instead of litter, and pick up some of the poop and place it inside the box. Also I have heard placing some sticks and grass in the box helps reach them it is okay to go there, more like going outside.

If I litter box trained my kid, a dog will be a snap. Took only a few days. He loves playing in sand boxes. It's a little embarrassing at the park though.

Mine just went in the tub like the rest of us... that is until she died of kidney failure. But until then, she never went anywhere else. I didn't really train her to do it that way- she really just picked it up from the rest of us. Maybe if you start going in a litter box, your dog will too.

we put down some landscape timbers in our yard about 6x8 feet then filled it with aromatic cedar chips and tied the dog so he had to stay within that area till he did his business. then he is free to run the rest of the yard. now he is so trained he won't go anywhere else in the yard and we have to tie him up or he won't go either. he just whines till we tie him up...lol
