i dont see why people are blaming troops for innocent ppl killed, its harsh over there and its hard to see whos bad and whos good, if they make a sudden movement i would shoot them, im not goin to find out if they have a weapon or a bomb, so if innocent civilains have to die to keep our troops safe, then let it be that way

Iraqi civilians living in their country and US & UK soldiers are occupiers. Is it clear?
You may say allieds removed Saddam and did somethings for freedom and .....
But all of these answers are rehash. US soldiers are in Iraq and Afghanistan just for US benefits, NOT FOR DEMOCRACY.
You should know, someone like "Saddam" was supported by US several times because at that time US policy and benefits was so.
If I want to make a decision between innocent peope and professional soldiers, I'll select innocent people who are living in their country and if they had some problems with their leader, it wasn't their fault. It was related to aliens policy and benefits.
> Saddam was one of US friends for a long time, untill US policy was change.
>> Don't forget, allieds are in Iraq and Afghanistan and they are killing innocent people and unarmed men, women and children with some nonsense excuses, SO ALLIEDS ARE ENEMIES.
I bet, if you was an Iraqi, you was an enemy and of course you tried to kill allieds because they are killing Iraqi people.
>>> Have you ever seen (On TV and movies) ordinary people's resistance against Hitler's army during WWII?
Who could say, those people were insurgents and saboteurs except of Nazies?

A very good question. Unfortunately, modern warfare is very different from the wars our forefather fought. While I agree that "collatoral damage" is necessary, every effort should be made to keep it to a minimum. The "sudden movement" argument is always a tough one to answer, but is goes deeper than that. The most important question is "do you feel threatened?" If so, then fire away.
Given the options you gave, I would chose none of the above. Where that is not an option, I'd like to see both kept to a minimum. Every life is precious.

There are very very few "innocent" civilians in Iraq. If their not insurgents, then they are harboring them. That makes them just as guilty as the ones planting bombs. It's not like the combatants are wearing uniforms or anything to distinguish themselves from the civilian population. And to those who are so quick to judge those Marines as murderers, strap on their boots for a while. Think you know what stress is? Trust me, you have no idea. Your life hangs in the balance of making a split second decision. This is life and death people, literally. Unless you've been there, shut your mouths.

Who would want either of those options dead? The troops are being blamed because some bad troops do bad things and unfortunately the military in general takes the blame. Anyone who says Iraqi women and children are being used for suicide attacks does not know what they're talking about.

WTH.... Some lives are worth more than others?????
Isn't that what Hitler said?
Isn't that the same line of thinking the US gov't had to justify herding Japanese-Americans into interment camps?
Isn't that what the Isrealis say about the Palestinians and vica versa?
Yeah.... yeah...
Isn't that what the terrorists kept saying right up to the very last second as they piloted 2 airplanes loaded with passengers and fuel into the Trade Towers?
Is that what you're going to say when a PTSD'd cop shoots your mother/father/brother/sister/spouse/ child (pick one)?
Yeah... yeah...
Some people (like the hard working middle class) are just worth more than others (like the low lives panhandling at the sidewalks). Yeah.... Yeah...

It is very sad daily to read about innocent Iraqis being killed as well as are men and women in uniform. However, more Iraqis have been killed by the insurgents than by us. We seem to forget that. In every war, innocent civilians get caught in the cross-fires, it is very sad that this happens. How can we solve it, I don't think this will every happen, it's an unfortunate circumstance of all wars. My heart daily goes out to our Men and Women in uniform and their families.

I assume you are talking about the incident in Iraq. Until I hear the Marines story . I will withold judgement. Alot of those innocent looking civilians (women an children) have bombs strapped to their bodies. Our guys don't know who they are fighting half the time.

Most murderers express identical seniments as you. Perhaps you would feel differently if there was an invasion here in the United States, and some imbeciles broke into your house and killed your family because they didn't happen to like President Bush. Iraq is a sovereign nation. The United States is a sovereign nation. If another country invaded the U.S. -- and I wouldn't be concerned about what nation it was -- I would defend my country with my life, and raise my great-great grandchildren to resist with their blood forever. I value my country, despite its history of slaughter of native Americans, slavery of people of African origin, our political leaders mired in deceit, trickery, lies, sculdugery and thievery. Another country does not have the authority to judge what happens here; neither do we have the moral authority to judge others.

I don't believe we should be in Iraq in the first place. If our troops kill civilians without them firing first, then it should be o.k. to punish the troops. If you don't, that just gives the troops no check and balance and things would spiral further out of control. Our troops are professionals, not animals, and need to be treated as such.

Better the troops die, its what they signed up for, innocent civilians do not want to be part of it. Troops are there to keep the peace not kill the innocent.
