Has anyone been camping on Catalina? If so, how was it? I am planning a trip in July with me and my two girls.

If you're not going with a camp, I'm assuming you'll be camping on the Isthmus side of the island (?), rather than on Avalon. I've sailed to that side of the island many times and camped in a tent in the campground along the bluff - it's beautiful and quiet; much different from the party scene on the Avalon side! There are many hikes to do around the island from the Isthmus side. Oh, and try snorkeling in and around the caves near cherry cove, etc. You might also be able to tour the marine biology lab that USC (I think) has set up on the island.
If you have time, try the hike to Inspiration point for a gorgeous view, or hike over to Wrigley ranch, or go on a glass bottom boat tour if there haven't been storms recently. Take sunscreen, though!! Have a blast.

Use google maps, then on the map of catalina island, use search nearby and put in hotels or motels and then look and see the list if any have websites so that you can geta complete list. You can also input catalina tourism in google for options too. Bet it to be expensive, theres only so many rooms so the prices I just saw on trip advisor were high!

Spent a week there with a youth camp. The part we were at wasn't tents, it was more like cabins. It was nice, of course we were right by the beach. I wish I could give more details, but it was about 20 years ago.

Went long time ago with the Girl Scouts. It was ok, no different than camping at say, Yellowstone, Arrowhead, etc.
