I was raised Baptist. I've gone to charismatic, liturgical, Church of Christ and no church at all. I'm going back to a baptist church again. I've been visited by Latter Day Saints and Jehova's Witness. I've prayed, read the Bible. I just got out of a psych hospital and am having shock treatments. I don't deny God is a hard guy to understand. But I don't wanna live in a godless world.

Fellow believer, Paul felt the same ordeal when he wrote in Philippians 1:21, "For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain."

Paul's dilemma was that in order to live was to do his God-given duty as a Christian to "go and make disciples of every nation," as Jesus commanded. Even I have fallen into stages of despair, wishing I could be with Jesus. Paul expresses his "longing to be clothed with our heavenly dwelling" in 2 Corinthians 5:2.

But take comfort, dear believer! "For if we are distressed, it is for your comfort and salvation; if we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which in you produces a patient endurance for the same sufferings we suffer."
-2 Corinthians 1:6

Let us finish Christ's work here, so that we may see to it that more may share in the eternal, joyful life we will have in Christ. We may not like to live in a godless world, but you can do your part to assist in the overturning of this philosophy without backbone.

Those websites in my source gives me a LOT of encouragement every day, do check them out. I shall be praying for you.

EDIT: What everyone is saying is true. Pray that God will help you back to your feet, and pray that God will use you for His glory.

Latter day Saints believe non white were cursed by God wrong.Witness believe no Hell and only 144000 will be saved to live here on a new earth wrong, Charis. believe speaking in tongues is the greatest gift, but they will treat you like dirt on the street wrong.Baptist believe once saved always,Methodist believe there is a method to get into heaven, again Bush crushes the poor for 8 years. So it is up to the Holy Spirit in you to find the right way, as we are all sinners, and Man sure has made a mess out of religion.

If you are struggling in your walk with God you will have to honestly back and ask if I am understanding the scriptures right. When people are switching around from church to church and belief to belief is usually the sign that the devil is fighting them to keep them off the path and from the truth. That's why you will find different denominations and beliefs approaching you. If the enemy can flood you with mistruths, he can keep you from finding you true purpose in God. So, the key is asking God to put you in a ministry where you can get the true uncompromising Word of God. Then allow God to root you in the Word. Most people end up in a cycly because they do not want to go where God wants them to go because it does not feel comfortable. Try asking God for this.

I have done almost all that you have done only I joined the lds. It was after a temple visit that I got four visitations over six months. What I was told would eventually lead me out of the lds. I was told that I was an outsider. God knows why but my life is much happier now that I have accepted it. I felt the lds didn't want to save my marriage and as a divorced male they wanted me to marry their choice or leave. I wish you would now look forward to no meds and no shocks. But you have to let go of the bad expectations you have internalized in your mind. Life is not as it is spoken. Keep the faith and follow God's promptings. He uses your grandfathers to help you everyday.

Every person has to reach his own level of comfort with beliefs.

I am an atheist, but that in no way implies that anyone else should be an atheist.

You should relax and stop trying so hard. The "spirit" is unique to you and will come to you if you just give it a chance. And, then, you will know what to believe because it will bring you peace and comfort.

Good luck to you and let your own mind ("spirit") guide you.

ONE Faith, Many Religions -

There are many religions (as an example - Gal.1:13 below, the Jews’ religion), but one faith (Eph.4:5 below).

Eph.4:5 One Lord, one faith, one baptism,

When we are baptized into Christ Jesus by the Holy Spirit we BECOME a “new creature” (2 Cor.5:17, Gal.6:15 below). We become, individually, as well as collectively, the living body of Christ (Col.1:24 below). We become the church of God (1 Cor.10:32 below, 1 Cor.1:2, 1 Cor.15:9, Gal.1:13), the one faith (Eph.4:5 above).

2 Cor.5:17Therefore if any man be in Christ, he IS a new creature (Gal.6:15 below): old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

Gal.6:15For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision, but a new creature (2 Cor.5:17 above).

Col.1:24Who now rejoice in my sufferings for you, and fill up that which is behind of the afflictions of Christ in my flesh for His body's sake, which IS the church (1 Cor.10:32, Gal. I:13, 1 Cor.1:2).

1 Cor.10:32Give none offence, neither to the Jews, nor to the Gentiles, nor to the church of God (Eph.2:16 below).

Eph.2:16 And that he might reconcile BOTH (Jews and Gentiles - 1 Cor.10:32 above) unto God in one body (the church of God - 1 Cor.10:32 above) by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby:

Gal.1:13For ye have heard of my (Paul's) conversation in time past in the Jews' religion, how that beyond measure I persecuted the church of God (1 Cor.10:32 above), and wasted it.

Even as a Christian people (me too) have a hard time sometimes. God is a hard one to understand but just know that God knows what is in your heart and he sees and watches you everyday. He made you, he loves you and he is walking with you. But the only way to God is through Jesus Christ, our savior.

Lots of luck

Yes sweetie it can all be overwhelming. I am sure through most of the different course in your spiritual path Jesus was always in there somewhere...right? He is the only way.
Confusion comes from satan, master of lies and deception, if you are confused stop and go by your self in prayer. pray and pray, God knows your heart, he will give you the right answers he will open all the right doors. He already knows what you need he is just waiting for you to ask him in. Prayer is just talking to God, go ahead....
God bless and I will be praying for you

Take your time... God is real, but it seems that religions seem to be getting in between you two. =)

I would suggest that you continue to pray, and seek to understand God quietly or talk with someone that you respect the way they LIVE, not who seems religious. The bible can never be a bad thing when read it simply by yourself...
