have they said anything about the iraqi army, my brother said most of them are useless, he said they will run away or even turn against the troops and start shooting at them, he saw that happen before, but he said some were actually trying to do better for their country, God blees our troops and thank you for serving

The answer to the question of how good is the Iraqi army is going to depend on who you ask - and when they were there.

By our standards they suck. By Arab standards they are pretty good.

Also remember that the Iraqi army is still in the process of being created. They desperately need experienced leaders and the only thing that will get their leaders this experience is time.

They are getting better. But this is a painfully slow process. (And there is no way to speed it up.)

My husband just come from Iraq in March. He was saying that they spent almost three straight years training these Iraqi soldiers and when the turned the bases over to them, they ruined or sold almost all the equipment and then ran off. I hope it gets better because even though I don't think we need to pull out now, I do want them to be able to run their own country so my husband doesn't have to go back over anytime soon. You have no idea how hard it is to run the house and do everything including raising your children when you have to worry about your spouse dying over there. I have a new respect for single parents!

I served there from 2004 to 2005, and some of the Iraqi soldiers were hard to train and some would run away but I am sure it is getting a little easier atleast I hope it is.

We served during Desert Storm......BELIEVE me it was a different war than this one.

My husband was a driver for his Commander and to this day "YEARS later"....he will not talk about what he witnessed. All he says is "Rats were big, food was bad and the smell was horrible". Not too long ago we went to a reunion.....he and the commander he drove for hugged for quite a while. Neither said a word.......as a matter of fact, neither said a too much during the entire evening. I think it was "mutual understanding and thankfulness".

There was no Iraqi Army during that mission.....just alot of Iraqi's waving white flags.

My nephew is going there in a few weeks. He got married before he left for his training. He was gone for some training before and his wife lost their baby. I pray that my nephew and everyone else will be safe from harm. The troops are so brave for what they are doing for our country. I just wish their was world peace for all!
