i originally had just a boy cat who we got neutered a year ago. we fed him a small amount in the morning, and half a can of wet food at night. my husband recently bought a girl cat, who had to be spayed before we took her home. she went through everything and a week later we got her staples taken out. well, i was informed that she had gone through a pregnancy before we picked her up. now, we cant get her to stop eating all the food that is put out for the two cats in the morning and at night. shes taken over and now the boy cat is getting skinny, and she has a fat ( i mean super fat) stomach!! what can i do to get it so the cats eat equal amounts? why is she hungry all the time? i'm going to take her to the vet on saturday to get her checked out.. we are worried that she could possibly be preg. but she was supposed to be fixed already!!

Since you just got the female, it may be possible she was starved at some point in her live, and with a "new" situation, she's eating everything she can. It's a survival instinct. I would suggest you put out dry food for them both and let them "free feed", and do your normal feedings of canned food as before. They should (hopefully) both even out on their eating once they realize there's always food for the taking and they never have to be hungry.
I don't have any idea about the possibly pregnancy after spaying - wouldn't say it's possible, but who knows. If she's eating a ton, a "little" weight gain in a cat (like a pound) LOOKS like a lot -- but you should always have a vet check anything that is of concern.
Good luck.

No need for panick although I think that you should take her to the vet. Now the cat has a 75 % chance of being pregnant
feed the cats in seperate rooms let the girl cat eat in your room
and let the other cat eat in another room give them seperate bowls and water wait till theey are completely done before letting them together again i hope this helps. BYE

Cats are like people. Some cats eat a little and others eat a lot. The easiest solution is to feed the male cat where the female can't get to his food.

I don't think the cat could be pregnant. During spaying, the vet removes both her ovaries and uterus, so there would be no where for the kittens to develop.
It sounds like you are going to have to feed the two cats in separate rooms. You don't want your boy to starve.

She might be trying to dominate over your male cat. My cats used to do that. We finally had to let them eat one at a time. We would lock one cat in another room while the other ate. Then when he was done, we let the cat who tried to hog all the food come out and eat. It is a pain, but it works.

If she is spayed then she isn't pregnant but you can take her back to the vet to see why she is so hungry. In the meantime you can try to feed them in different rooms.

You definitely need to feed your cats in separate rooms. If you don't your boy cat will starve.

Take a stool sample with you when you go to the vet so you can check for worms. (Make sure it is less than half a day old. you can take it from the litter box.)
