I already view Jesus as a spiritual being, just as I view the Buddha as a spiritual being. There is a great deal of truth to be learned from each

No, Paul did not consider Jesus a spiritual being. Paul conveyed the picture that Jesus is 100% God and 100% human. Jesus Christ was born to a woman in the flesh.

The teaching that Jesus was only spiritual is a heretical Gnostic teaching. The Gnostics taught that the physical body is evil, that just by having a physical body you are congested with evil. The problem with this is that the body is not the cause of evil, but it is our inherited sinful nature.

Jesus is a spiritual being and he is now our invisble King reigning in heaven.Soon human governments will be gone and only the heavenly government will rule over mankind here on earth.
"And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever." (Daniel 2:44)

there were some gnostic christians that thought jesus didn't take on a material body because they believed the material creation was evil, and so it didn't become the all to take on a human body created by the demi-urge.
believe it or not john(not the son of zebedee, but a much later john) was writing about these people in his letters in the new testament. that's why he writes: that spirit that denies jesus came in the flesh is anti-christ. the catholic church wanted all the gnostics gone, because their doctrine didn't conform to their's.

Jesus? Use your brain for just a few seconds.

If Jesus died, he could have been God.

Do Gods die? Do they?

If Jesus 'died' on Friday and 'undied' on Sunday, what else besides a few hours was sacrificed?

What's the BIG deal?

David Blaine can almost do that.

I think that's exactly what Paul's perspective of Jesus was, and his are the earliest Christian writings we have, so they are probably most representative of early Christian thinking. Paul's Jesus was not a fleshy human.
