put them in one of those pins that they can't get out of. Give them some safe toys with lots of colors or sparkles, and then take a very deserving nap!

When my children were young, I would spread a blanket in the floor and put all the LEGO blocks on the blanket for them to play with (I used the large blocks that were not a choking hazard). I always placed the blanket beside the sofa where I would lay down. Even if I did not get a great deal of sleep, the time spent resting was a tremendous help. Also, as an added benefit the children were forced to use their imagination while building with the LEGO blocks.
Note: I always thought it wise to be in a room that could be closed off and was child proofed in the event that I did nap for a bit.

call grandma or a family member or a friend and ask if they can watch your little one for a couple hours. have a trusted teen come over after school to entertain the toddler while you take some time for yourself or a nap. you will still be there if you are needed. try and get your toddler on a regular schedule, you have to be tough and keep it up so they eventually get used to the nap times and stuff. you nap when they nap. do not let the child get the better of you. you are mom and when it is nap time it is nap time! if they cry threw the whole nap time then keep trying and they will get used to it. regular schedules for children is a must and helps them in many situations as they grow. remember if mom isn't happy then nobody is happy. maybe you could pay a teen $10 to watch the toddler while you nap or rejuvinate in a relaxing bath.

1. Patience + Patience + Patience
2. Review your day routine. If the kid takes a nap, for example, at 6 or 7 pm, It would be impossible to go to bed at 9.
3. No candies, chocolates or similar after 5pm. The sugar is the enemy
4. Be aware of TV. With cable, all children TV are 24/365. There`s always a good program on TV. Be firm. No TV after 8:00 pm.
5. Try to make funny and calm routines for bedtime. Read a story, comb his (her) hair. give her/him a foot massage. A bath and a warm glass of milk always works.
I have 5 kids. 10; 6; 5 (twins) and a baby of 7 months. After a lot of hard work and patience, the bed time in our family is pretty fun nice.
Good Luck

Good idea to gate off a room for you and toddler to be in and you lay down on couch or bed. Make sure they have had food, drink and have something to play with. Doesn't have to be toys either. They sometimes just like the laundry basket and lots of towels. Also, a big catalogue that you don't want. Let them rip all pages out and wrinkle up. Easy to pick up and they have fun. Turn on music like the Wiggles or good kids tunes. You can slip in and out of dozing.

Well, if it's during the day, he loves to watch "Clifford." I often tell him that I need to take a nap, like yesterday when I wasn't feeling well at all. He watched the show and played with his stuff. As for night, he's usually pretty good about going to bed. (OK, after the waling and gnashing of teeth.) He's still in his crib at 2 and a half years, and he goes in whether or not he goes to sleep right away. I hope that helped.

toddlers have way more much energy that us, you should bathe the toddler to see if he falls asleep if it that works but make sure you don't let him/her over sleep chances are that the toddler would be awake at night and that would be tragedy for you and the family as well...

have the preteen girl from across the road that you would never let babysit come over and just play with the kid for a while so you can nap. That way you are still there in case the kid needs help, but you are also making that kid's day!

Put a barney tape in the vcr on autoplay, give them a sippy cup, some safe toys, baby proof the room, lock the door and lay down.More than likely they will climb up with you and end up going to sleep.

If you have a room thats closed off with a baby gate and a tv and dvd/vcr in there you can put on a movie they like, sit in there with them and kinda doze while they watch the movie. Thats what I used to do.
