ou are correct in assuming Pest Trap was bogus- it is listed as a rogue anti-spyware at Eric Howe's site: http://www.spywarewarrior.com/rogue_anti-spyware.htm
If you are lucky you might be able to uninstall it in your Add/Remove Program list in Control Panel.

Unfortunately it might have downloaded other pests with it. Your best bet for removal is to download HijackThis and post a logfile in the HijackThis board- full instructions on how to do this are pinned to the top of that board.

Download AVG Free virus protection and scan with it to remove the remnants of the virus.

Check with spywarewarrior.com. They helped me tremendously get rid of a similar problem. They are free and have several recommended downloads to keep from getting infected again.
