I have a 10 GB movie that skips when I play it in imovie. Actually, I just get the first 2 seconds and then the rest is jumpy sound. I'm looking to save the file NOT as a Quicktime (.mov) because that format is what's slow, NOT my computer. My computer can play DVD's and such at a perfect speed but it has trouble with my imovie. So how do I save it NOT as a Quicktime file but something like Realplayer maybe? Any suggestions on making it run faster would also be appreciated.

Also, how would I go about saving my imove file as the new file type. Remember, I'm on a mac, so giving me applications for PC (such as .exe) won't work. Any other converters? How would I save it then?

Try adjusting your playback quality setting in preferences. I used to know what format it was (DV stream) but they changed it. If you have a hard drive slower that 5400 RPM, that may be your source. I use 7200 for all my stuff. Hope this helped some.

stay away from quicktime and realplayer!!!!!!
try the ImTOO mov converter

Go to download.com and search for 'mpg,wmv to converter' and I am sure that you will get some non .exe installers also. Just try this thing.
