From a Germanic language then latin influence entered in 1066. Recent English has also been influenced by the lands of Hollywoodia and HipHop-ia. I'm sure people in 17th century England would have no clue what is meant by; Teeniebopper, detox, Big Mac, Slam Dunking, etc.
